Ha, wish there was that much room round a Coach gearbox. Luckily most of our fleet is auto these days, years ago we had some manual Mercedes with V6 engines. It as much quicker to take the engine out to do the clutch, we done it that often the bolts undone themselves 😂.

Mate get yourself a length of 2 inch box section, warm it up and put a bend in the middle. Undo the top gearbox mounting bolts ( the 4 24mm head ones). Now jack up the engine and gearbox together. Slide your box section under the flywheel housing and sit it on the suspension springs. Some models you can just put thick bar straight across the springs and sit the engine on it. The way to get the clip off is to lever the bearing forward while you release the clip with the other hand. If it doesn't come out straight away lever it forward a few times

Not any more mate, i retired a few years ago. I worked for scania in the uk for 12 years and scania in australia for 8 years.. I've fitted more clutches than i care to remember. Don't think I'm one of them people that only worked at dealerships. I've worked everywhere and on everything before i worked for scania. Like yourself , i could get the wipers working off the P.T.O if i had to, or was paid to👍🏻👍🏻

Bits of wood are tremendously important when cocking about with bloomin gearboxes. I tend to find.

Scania probably sell main-dealer spec bits of wood with logos on & whatnot. I just use aftermarket ones - I find those come in a wider range of dimensions. The handiest size I have is 4"*4" - those get used for everything.

You should be able to get the release bearing easier by pushing the bearing from below with the lever and squizing the clips, once you squize you pull the bearing with the leaver and it's out ... No need to remove the slave cylinder just remove the 22mm air and the fluid line despite these great work

Cheers pal I did try that it was tight but it might of gone if I got someone to push the clutch at the same time as squeezing the clip 👍I want the job done as quick as possible! It takes longer and more cost to loose all the fluid than just take out the three mounting bolts of the slave and launch to the side

I wouldn't remove the fluid line. Just adding another job to the ticket. And if it doesn't bleed up properly your adding a headache. I always just take the slave off complete. But horses for courses.

Hey Chris, I absolutely love the work you do and love even more the knowledge you are passing on to us, I’m attempting to take the transmission out of my 1999 ford iveco 75e15 I’ve never done it before and I can not get the clip to release, I have no wholes at the top or bottom for better access just the whole where the arm goes through, I’m going to have to take the arm bolts out somehow for it to slide out, what size are the bolts, and if you have a better suggestion for access that would be great

Don’t know size they are of head mate, might be hard to get to the arm bolts, you might be better taking the pressure plate bolts out, it just means you have to turn the fly wheel round to get to each bolt, good look wizKid….. lovely bank holiday job that 😬😁😂

New models very easy to remove whereas the old mixer truck you got to remove the front gear housing and remove 2pcs allen key bolts to change the release bearing fork assembly

@@kenfox1911 yes mate, we have a Scania fleet so I’ve done quite a few. Great effort doing it on the ground by the way. But using a pit or ramps is way easier. If you have access to that stuff.

OK I've got a 20ton ramp ,my scania is a old 4 series andi think the slave cylinder is on the way out ,its the type that is on the thrust bearing ,do you know if the box comes straight out or does it have a clip on the bearing, cheers ken fox

i guess this is a pull to release clutch rather than a push to release? i work on cars and don't come across many pull release cluctchs, peaugeot/citroen used to use them late90s/early20 and they were a ball ache
