How to remove a Member from Google Family Link

Open it up and it will allow themselves to remove from family. @@scienceforfun9801 are you signed in as the family manager? Make sure the account member is older then the age requirement for your country to have a managed account.

OMG you dont know how much this helped me for yrs weve been struggling to remove my account from my family group. But there was a problem after removing it because i was still unable to acsess my school google account and said i was still under the family link right after i removed it also when we origanally looked up how to remove an account it naver mentioned anything abt having to check your email after turning 13. If your account only has the DELETE account option, I just fixed this!!!! My kid was over 13 (17) and all it took was to go onto his email, on the exact day (way long ago) he turned 13 and find the email from google on next steps in the family. In that email there is a link to click that will allow them to remove themselves from family link. Couldn’t find any other way. Hope this helps. You can filter your email to be mail sent on the day to they turn 13

This is great. First truly helpful video I've seen about family link. My daughter broke her phone (the screen was black & could still ring, but you couldn't answer it or dismiss alarms or anything), so we got a replacement. Now the old broken phone AND the new phone are on family link under the same account. Any tips on how to remove the old device without deleting my daughter's whole family link account?

For those who cant find the remove member button, heres how to do it. 1st you must go to family link and choose the child you want to remove. Select controls and then scroll until you find the account settings button. Click on it. Then you must click on acount info. This will show the info of the child, and at tge very bottom, you may find 1 of 2 buttons. One button is the delete account button, which if you click on, will remove the child. The second button is the stop supervision button. Click on it. Then, you must agree to the terms and conditions and stop the supervision. Now, if you follow the videos steps, instead of the go to family link button, you will find the remove member button. Hope this helps!

I thought this was the info I needed, but my problem is different. My child got a new phone which was added to family link under the same account. So currently she has two devices. Now I want to remove (only) the old phone from family link, but I have no idea how this works. Maybe you know the answer.

@@LetMeFixIT thanks I watched that too, I think the whole solution is 1) log into the account and sign out the device as described in your video. 2) on the old device remove the google account (otherwise family link will not let you do a factory reset) - you should not go to family link on the old device and "remove this account from this device ..." 3) do a factory reset (if required).

Same problem as everyone else. I cannot get the "Remove" option. Over 13 (17) and the personal details state that. I got an email when they turned 13, but it didn't say anything except that they will soon be able to manage their account. They are still in my Family Management.

Is it a new Google home? If so, U will need to go into Google home app and click on the device and say remove device. If you can't because it's someone else's, you need to ask them to remove the device and set it up again. If it's someone's that you don't know...that's a different story. Open the Google Home app . Switch to the home you want to edit. Tap Settings Household. Next to your account name, tap or . Tap Remove Remove yourself

So, if everyone has an issue and can't stop supervising their child, i sorted this way. So you go to parental controls (on the child's phone) press the three dots, and stop supervising, then restart your phone. After that, create a new email, and put it at your original age, or at an age which, family link cannot supervise you, then create your new email. IMPORTANT NOTE: You must have a phone still logged in on your old email, so you can switch email on websites.

If that's the case, it's very possible your account is not ready to be removed (as in you are still the owner of the child account) - if that's the case and you believe your child account has past the appropriate age, then email google support to have them check it for you.

Hey Ally, as an adult, if you really must remove the supervision; you can hard factory reset the phone. Usually, there is a command for the certain type of phone you have that bypasses the operating system before it boots. For example, on some android phones, you can press and hold certain keys while turning the power on. After factory resetting the phone, you can use a new Gmail account. However, please note that some phones have FRP (factory reset protection) in case a thief tries to steal your phone to do this exact method. In this case, I would suggest contacting google support for account recovery. They will ask you for your personal identification and once you have sent them that, they will release your account and transfer the supervision. Having said this, you would've received an email that gave you a choice to claim the account when you turned the appropriate age for your account. If you can find that, you may be able to refer to it.

If you removed the account by mistake, you can try these steps: Factory reset the device (if necessary). During setup, sign in with your child's Google account again. If needed, re-link the account in Google Family Link from your device. Hopefully, this helps!

Yes, family link doesn't delete your account if you are over 13 (google account bday date specific). It just removes it from supervision. You have to sign in as the family supervisor to remove other members.

I just found this and it worked right away! Here: " From a web browser, sign into your kids google account, and select Security from the left sidebar. Scroll down to "Your Devices" and click the blue "Manage All Devices" link. On the next screen, look for the device you are trying to remove and click the information on the right. That will move you to the next screen where you can choose to sign out of the device. Once you sign the account out from the device it "deletes" the google account from the device. Now you can go back to Family Link on your own phone, pull down to refresh, and it should be gone.
