Hey Mike it's always good to see you working on that old boat. Now looks like a good time to get that lower end rebuild. It's going to take a while, but eventually you'll have a beautiful rebuild boat. And so enjoyable being with you along the way. Thanks and can't wait too see you again soon, James

Hey Jim, I will be installing a Mercruisers type outdrive. It will be a great addition to the boat.

Mike, that boat is really coming along. If you really want to get that drain plug out, you can always hit it with a little heat. I am so excited for this refit. That's going to be a great boat. I'm enjoying these videos!

Thanks for the tips! Since several people have mentioned it I will try some tricks just to get it out.

Nice work! Empty cool whip containers with lids work great for storing small parts too 😊

Yes it does! I also have a few Country Crock butter containers as well.

Hi Mike! Moving along...Perfect. Try using your biggest flathead screwdriver and then hit it with a hammer with light to medium hits while holding the screwdriver on the screw plug, then turn to loosen. It always works for me. Peace from the Keys!

Sounds good, I will try it and make a video short about it.

I probably won't be messing with this one anymore. I am going to install a brand new unit.

Got that hunk of crap off , I’m assuming your replacing it with a Mercruiser also I don’t know if you mentioned when pulling the drive to have it in forward gear not neutral. Yer getting their Mike thanks for sharing happy health to you .
@CaptainMike1965 Жыл бұрын
Yes sir. No I didn't mention that as this is my first OMC outdrive. Do you know what the reason is?

I wish you would keep the omc out drive, I have the King Cobra version on my boat, it's a great out drive, just maintain it.. I might do a video on my Benzproducts channel 😉

Let me know if you do, I would like to see the vid. I like the new ASI style outdrives. Plus, it is great content for this channel.

Great video what are those black spacers on the drive lift rod? The ones in between the out drive and the hydraulic lifting rams? I have a 89 bayliner trophy, mine spacers are missing😢
@CaptainMike19653 ай бұрын
They are just what you called them, "spacers" They are for keeping the alignment straight. I may have some on an old drive. Let me check. Shoot me a email for a reminder and I will check. mike@michaeljaysteen.com

Hello Mike, I'm happy to see some forward progress happening with your project. Question for you. Do you have an itemized list of the work you intend to do to this boat before setting sail next April? Not to be negative but I feel like unless you start devoting all of your time to it and push the issue April will be a tall order. Of course I'm saying this not knowing what your full scope is. I remember you had a fuel tank to possibly reposition. You will ideally want some shake down time before departing. Do you have any sort of Gant chart to organize your progression and hit critical timeline milestones? Really wish I lived closer to you so I could lend a hand...

Hey Randolph, great question! I think I will do a Live@Five on this subject. Not this upcoming Sunday as I will be doing one on location. But the following Sunday. I will reference your question in it. Maybe you can be the guest on that live. Shoot me a email with your contact info at Mike@michaeljaysteen.com We can chat a bit about it.

You says you are replacing the outdrive, will it be new or rebuilt? I am not sure why this caught my attention but for some reason it did and I am curious!
@CaptainMike1965 Жыл бұрын
Yes I am putting on a brand new one. It is a SEI Mercruiser style. They make an adapter kit. They are made here in Florida. The reason is those parts are much more prevalent.

I think using a tripod would be better, I was getting nauseous from all the jerky movements of the camera, I had to stop watching
@CaptainMike1965 Жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, I had a tripod and a grip on Gopro. The Gopro turned off right after I started work and tho you see some of the tripod video, the dog knocked over it. I only used about half of the video from it. I have a new clip on type Gopro mount I have been trying. I got issues with it. Seems like there is no perfect system.
