How to remove a stuck one way bearing and fix one that slips! easy!

hey my fellow Nitro Brother! Great tips as always for a super common Nitro Rc issue. I once had this issue ( you might have seen it with a buddy's T-maxx 2.5 on my channel). The bearing was so stuck, I tried everything, including a vice and punch, broke through the backplate. Basically had to just buy a new backplate, only solution at that point.

This happened to me with my Tmaxx 3.3. To prevent breaking the backplate, I used an 18mm deep socket to put the backplate on, and used a punch to drive the one way bearing off. The socket allows the starter shaft to fall into in, but holds the backplate from moving. Worked for me

I found my answer right here in this video. Thanks for doing this video I see now how the motor is apart and now feel safe to take mine apart 👊😎 I have a motor to diagnose. I hope it cleans up and works. It is ceased I believe it’s ceased from 30 years of sitting 👍

Hi! Great video with good tips. Would fine steel wool work for cleaning the one way shaft instead of 600 grit sandpaper?

I'm having the issue with the one-way bearings slipping and and replace it with a new one way bearing and still the same thing .I believe it's the starter shaft I'm not 100% sure

Try buff the starter shaft with some 800 grit if that doesn't work replace the starter shaft

Hi Thebug 404 i’ve been having trouble with my carb in my nitro Rs4 2. It was gummed up and I haven’t had a good past with Carbs so if you don’t mind, I do recal you having nitro star .15fe engine so can you please make a video of how to take a nitro star .15fe carb apart and cleaned. Thank you

Hey you can usually just clean them with non chlorinated brake parts cleaner that will unstick them and clean out the varnish you do not need to remove the throttle barrel most of the time or the low speed needle but you can disassemble the high speed needle i believe I do have a video on cleaning carburetors which will be the same process for all engines I think one of the videos is labelled how to fix and rc car that only starts when you put fuel in the carburetor i have one of those carburetors but I'm not going to take it apart for a video as it is already damaged and barely hanging together

I drill started mine and now it won’t grab how can I make my one Way bearing grab again all the pins and in the one way bearing and I soaked my one way bearing and shaft and my one way bearing will not fit in my ez started gear how can I make it fit it will get stuck when I put it by my ez started thanks

Yeah you have to be really careful when drill starting because the drill will make enough torque what will just destroy the bearing itself or if the engine is flooded you will break the connecting rodder to other damage like bend the crank shaft You have to use your torque settings and just be really careful

the one way shaft sanding trick only works so many times unfortunately. usually sanding the shaft lasts only a few pulls before slippage again

It works awesome but yes if you do it to much it won't help at that point replace the starter shaft and bearing

I was told by the fella at my LHS to just take the bearing out of my EZ start tmaxx, and soak it in some of the trucks fuel….. shake it, and then put it back together. What say you??

Ik you did this video for the post I did in the hpi Facebook page well it wasn't because of flooding the engine but because of the starter shaft was not 100 percent straight don't ask me how but now my starter shaft is broken and is leaking
