Excellent solution. I used this to get a sticky mounting thing off a painted metal surface. Used the plastic spatula and it removed the mount without scratching the paint. Yes, patience is required, but it works as presented! Thanks!

Thank you! I got the same kind of Dollar Tree hooks and realized after I got home that they don't have tabs. (The other ones I've bought there always did, so I didn't look too closely.) I haven't put them up yet because I was worried about this being an issue one day, but now I don't have to worry about trying to return them or spending more money when I'm between jobs. Much appreciated!

This is great. Thank you. I did have to clean residue off my granddaughters bedroom wall when they were moving. I didn’t have anything to use. So I thought maybe a hot wet cloth. I used a thick old washcloth and held it against the adhesive for about 15 seconds. The cloth was hot and very wet. Then I just rubbed it with the cloth and it came off in a few seconds. It made a hard job so easy.

Hi, sorry this is late. I used "Goo Gone" to remove the left over adhesive. I would just be careful and do a test in a hidden area so you don't ruin the surface-good luck!

I saw someone remove the goo from double sided tape with duct tape. Do you think that will work for this if I don’t have goo gone?
@74Emm4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean remove the goo with duct tape or double sided tape? I'm not sure if that would work, but if it's a wall your trying to remove the sticky stuff from I might try something like baby oil first, but only if your wall paint has some kind of sheen-like satin or semi gloss finish-not flat paint. Hope this helps!

After removing the hook with this method can it be reused??
@74Emm3 жыл бұрын
It didn’t melt the plastic hook for me so if you can apply another adhesive sticker I think it’s definitely possible to reuse the hook

Hi, any idea how to remove self-adhesive (net curtain) hooks from a plastic window frame?

you might try it on the lowest setting, maybe test it so first to make sure it doesn't melt the plastic window frame but otherwise, I don't know-sorry

How about if it's high on the wall and the blow drier can't reach it
@74Emm3 ай бұрын
@@marytes3758 extension cord? You gotta do what you gotta do to get them off especially if the alternative is tearing a chunk off the wall which would be way more hassle to repair than finding an extension cord and a stool to get up there

Why on low and not on high, though? I’m figuring if a little heat is good, more heat is better / faster?

you can try high heat at your own risk lol. I didn't want to risk the high heat damaging the wall or anything

Will this work on glass? I didn’t read the fine print that it can’t be applied on glass. 🤦🏻♀️
@74Emm4 күн бұрын
@@alannayee I’m not sure because I’ve never tried it. But I have used a blow dryer to remove price stickers from glass so I would think it should be ok. My main concern would be the tool and so you’d probably have to be extra gentle so you don’t crack the glass. Definitely use a plastic one for that. Good luck!
@maisarahmortaza28110 ай бұрын

I tried this and it did not work. The paint has ripped of the wall, im gonna get killed by my mom…
@74Emm Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. I'm just going to answer for others here as you might not need this tip anymore. The only way I can think of that you may have ripped the wall with this method is if you tried to pull off the hook before the adhesive was completely melted off the wall. In other words, instead of letting it come off on its own-you pulled on it before it was completely detached from the wall. I did warn about that in the video btw

@74Emm Жыл бұрын
No idea but if you factor in the cost of the alternative (losing a rent deposit or the cost of having to repair damaged walls to include spackle and paint) a $10-$20 blow dryer is probably worth it- especially if you have several of these on your walls

Update… I used a steam iron. It worked great!!! Iron on highest heat and steam the adhesive, hold it really close to the wall but not enough to damage the wall for about 10-20 sec . The adhesive will come right off.

That is not a "spatula" it is not a cooking utensil, that is called a putty knife. Never waste your money on those plastic disposable ones, the real ones are made of steel and only cost a dollar or two more and will last.
