I just removed a dozen after 4 years and they came off cleanly, no residue or stain. One photo had tape at the bottom of the frame. I used a hair dryer under the photo and the tape released perfectly on the wall and the frame.

Take into account that you're hanging the hook off the paint so if the paint isn't well adhered to the wall that'll fail first.

Holy cow, what''s going on? Every KZbinr I follow is checking out wall hooks/hangers/anchors over the last week. Clint, my man from Tool Review Zone, did a comparison video; Rudy from the Home Improvement Channel also did one today. And now you. Boy, I'm confused, too many choices. Thanks for making my head hurt.

In general, the Command hooks work well but I've had bad luck using them on gloss paint. My basement walls are just the concrete painted with gloss paint. The Command hooks just fall off on their own with nothing on them at all. I want to avoid drilling into my basement walls since the walls have just been repaired for holes and cracks.

The alcohol is more to avoid having dirt or something else loose on the surface that you can't see, so if you do a general clean or always keep it dust free, then it should hold great. That said, this test was on smooth walls, so I'd love to see what happens with the textured walls.

Every single time I have used the Command hooks it has removed a layer of sheetrock. I believe the amount of time they have been on the wall effects this. I'd rather have a nail hole. I also found they do not hold like in this video. Be careful because your picture will come off the wall and, inevitably, the frame or glass will break. I WILL NEVER USE THESE AGAIN. Funny Carpenter is wrong on this one.

Just bought a house and they used these things all over the walls, trying to get ready to paint but these things do not come off the walls easily. After tearing a few off and now having to repair drywall, I scrape them off with a putty knife, they still damage the drywall. These things have really been a pain in the ass to say the least.

These are great if you realize all stickem eventually will dry out and fail. They've done great on things that aren't breakable and don't tip out from the wall. Anything that tips out on the top can put too much pressure on the top. They've never done any damage to my walls if pulled straight down as per instructions.

Wearing my official Funny Carpenter T-shirt whilst watching this …even the Mrs noticed! My strength concern is that it is simply holding onto the paint on the wall, and at best just the paper of the drywall. I am old fashioned, but can’t help but install a drywall anchor and do it properly.

That is awesome! How are you liking the fabric? I'm pretty impressed with those hooks, for a hook rated for .5lbs it was punching so far above its weight class! I bought a bunch more and have been hanging up stuff all over the place. The thing that I like is if you end up not wanting the hook there- bang you just take it off. Going to hang up my KZbin Silver Play button with the picture hanging strips...It would be a real tragedy if that falls off the wall:( Cheers Richard have a great weekend!

First, I use this kind of often and for atleast 10 years. Now when have they failed? After 3 years on an uncleaned by any means surface I had three just come of the wall within about a week of each other. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ still not really sure why I have had many others stay stuck for much longer without prepping the walls. I have used the plastic hooks and the plastic has failed and broke off. I have pulled the sticky back part off and not damaged the wall years after installation. If you accidently tear off the pull tab you can grab a tiny piece with needlenose pliers and safely remove. Lastly never install on wallboard or paint it is damaged. it will tear and you need to spackle or apply multipurpose compound to fix the wall. … though after proper repair and paint using the hook again is fine

These strips have a BIG problem. There are two parts to these things, the velcro part and the adhesive strip it's attached to. They may last only 6 months to 1 year before the velcro part separates from the adhesive. I'm not talking about the adhesive that goes against the wall or the object. It's like the bond dries out and BOOM down goes your picture after a while. Big warning, DO NOT USE THEM!

As a landlord, these things are a nightmare. Yes you can remove them in the short term, but longer term the pull tab weakens and breaks off or the bond is so strong that the tenant pulls and pulls until eventually the wall surface gives out before the glue does and then we have a darned big hole in the wall to repair. So in short, OK for temporary use, but will mess up the wall if you use them longer term.
@McSneakFreaks
@McSneakFreaks Жыл бұрын
Do you have any recommendations that you as a landlord prefer?
@DebyColes
@DebyColes Жыл бұрын
@@McSneakFreaks Landlords generally prefer that tenants use any existing wall fittings, and not add more of their own. If you need something attached to the wall, ask your landlord to secure a proper fitting for you, and then pay to have it removed and the wall made good again when you leave.
@NoReply28
@NoReply28 Жыл бұрын
It not a problem if you know what you're doing 🤦‍♂️. The wall and paint in my apartment is pretty cheap but I never have any issues. Recently remove several strips that been holding my window curtain for several years. Came right off and left no damage. Any strip that was "hardened" is easily removed with a heat gun. Instead of using brute force to rip these things off the wall... Try using your brain. 😂

Stop and consider this weight is actually only held by the paper of the sheetrock and once it settles in try removing it per instruction without taking the paper with it. I'll tell you what will happen: the paper will rip and bunch up behind the hook as you pull the tab and you are going to have a damaged wall that will cost you hundreds to repair and all because you wanted to use some cheap xxx sticky hooks.
