@@speedkar99 In Ottawa live it's kind of hard w/o acetylene torch. When K-Frame or suspension bolts snap it's not fun. Once we assemble back things, we pack some grease to make things easier for future repairs. After 15 yrs it looks like new underneath other than some little corrosion in the places that get mostly affected by salted roads.

So, so - a lot of additional accessories to disconnect and remove. On most new cars you have to take the bumper off, and cooling, A/C to get to engine. The Priuses are very reliable, our parts supplier has six or seven of them in the fleet as parts delivery cars. Daily they make some 150-200km each and some of the cars have way over 300k km on them. I never heard any complains from the drivers about the cars.

Does this car still run and drive when the hybrid battery is dead? because I know some hybrid models use the main big battery to start the car, meanwhile some use the regular 12v battery to start and the car will just be slow
@mraaronfrancis3 жыл бұрын
my prius (gen 3) will still run when it throws a hybrid system error. It just runs slow and the ICE runs continually.
@clinte143 жыл бұрын
This Gen II prius uses the hybrid battery to start the car, so it will not start without an operating hybrid battery. There are two motor generators (MG's, ie electric motors) that use the hybrid battery. MG1 starts the car and recharges the hybrid battery (replacing the starter and alternator on traditional cars). The MG2 provides power to the wheels either by itself or in conjugation with the internal combustion engine. The 12V battery has about half the cold cranking amps you'd normally see in a car, because it does not need the amperage to run a starter motor to turn the motor over. I believe the newer Prius models allow the MG1 to also provide power to the wheels, allowing power from the engine+MG1+MG2.
@murraymadness46743 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I have removed from gen1 prius, it pretty much drops out the bottom, don't need to remove all that stuff. You just need to remove the inverter, the hoses, wires, and then drop the suspension with engine attached, and dtop it onto to big dolly, then raise up the body and roll it out. ahh I see you came to that conclusion at the end. :)

I dont understand why anybody would buy this car. It is a terrible gas car and a terrible electric car married together with a bunch of computer and sensors. How is any of that going to age well? Just the other day I saw a prius on the highway saving the environment with a bunch of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust before the car gave up and the driver pulled over. Toyota sells these cars making people think they will save money with the 2mpg improvement over a similar small car, but then the hybrid battery is worn out, or the underbuilt engine gives out, or the cats are worn out or get stolen, and they are out thousands of dollars on a vehicle not worth a lot. At no point does it make any economic or logical sense to buy one of these, or for Toyota to even make them other than meeting government fuel economy standards so they can continue to make large trucks and SUVs that turn a healthy profit. Just a complete joke this car is and all the rubes who get suckered into buying it.
