I like how you showed all the screws and electrical connections. I've already had to remove the throttle cable mounts to change the thermostat on my 4.3L Vortec; this should be a piece of cake. I was deciding whether to remove the entire throttle body or just to spray it and be done, but the ease of access and seeing how dirty it is on the other side makes we want to remove it now. Did spark plugs spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, cabin air filter, engine air filter, pcv valve and hose and elbow replacement, and replaced the timing chain. I still have my service engine soon light illuminate after it had been cleared. Any help on that I only have a code for slipping transmission component. Do you think my throttle body could be the problem?

What size is that hose? My 99 astro hasa longer hose that is falling apart and has seized onto the harder plastic tube.

NOTE:.... If your Car / Truck Stalling after Cleaning and replacing all that stuff, etc...... You might want to " RUN " the Engine at " Idle " for a bit, so the " MAF Sensor " can Calculate your Fuel Ratio. Your Engine might be just fine... Just the MAF Sensor has to talk to the Computer. so it can " Re-calibrate " your Fuel.

Want a free tip? And a free mod to boot! That throttle body plate has that large lip on the one side. This was done by chevy to tame wheelspin so it robs throttle reaponse. If you remove the blade from the throttle body and grind that down or grind rivets off it remove it from the throttle plate altogether then re-rivet a small plate back in place. You will feel this mod!!! No issues or lights come on either.

Good for a quick video, but ideally you should not only clean the throttle body, but remove and clean the IAC, its space as well as the other cavities. Also, you may need to remove and clean the matting surface for the throttle body mounting gasket and replace with a new if needed. Clean all surfaces and then reassemble. Makes a huge difference.

I cleaned mine hoping it would fix stalling issue but no luck. So far cleaned iac and egr, also replaced map,maf and tps sensors. Replaced fuel filter and fuel pump.Hollowed out catalytic converter and replaced o2 sensor. Still stalls any ideas would be helpful. Thx

Have you tried any components to spark. Remember the 3 thing's a gasoline motor needs. Fuel,air,spark. Seems like you went through the fuel pretty good. Move on to spark and air

You may want to start testing your spark plugs, spark plug wires and coil. Scanning your vehicle with a high-level scanner that is bi-directional should give you a component or at-least a system to focus on. If you have a multi-meter you should start testing if voltage is getting to connectectors and you should also test sensors resistance to see if they within specification.

Ya the bolt you used the pliers on takes a 6 point 1/4 socket. Pliers mess things up

What size are the two bolts on the throttle body (id need a deep socket since these are right below the dash in a 99 astro) also what size are the two bolts holding the throttle cable bracket. Easy job but hard as hell cause of the position and nut/bolt depth. I have the legit huge encyclopedia sized service manual for my 99 and the steps dont include bolt/nut sizes and depths but they do include torques on every single repair just not the socket sizes. What size is the rubber tubing that goes from the throttle body air duct. Mine is almost entirely disintegrated. Thanks! If all else fails ill just put everything back together since it was running okay except for the power surge while accelerating from a stop.

You will gain legit maybe 1 hp if you cleaned your whole truck, you would probably get more from a tune up if anything, cut the lip of the throttle blade that works it’s magic way more than cleaning ever will

I filled it with carb cleaner ( I thought it would leak out ) but it stayed in , let it set for a couple mins and it cleaned up like new. Not a spot of carbon anywhere !!!

Did that thing have a gasket. Base gasket. Never use a screw driver on a throttle body. You can scar it.

Usually the throttle cable must be replaced because it stretches and cannot be made “tighter”.

I would start by going over all the electrical connections. Did you make sure you plugged everything back in?

A good spray carb and choke cleaner and a rag will get it cleaner. The sensor, in the throttle body, should also be removed and clean the sensor and the opening with the same spray cleaner and a LINT FREE rag I did the one on my GMC and didn't have to remove it. BAD VIDEO.
