Found this after trying to do my 2012 RG Ultra fairing this evening. I like the idea of removing the headlights because I could not get my hooks to line up...forgive the ignorance but how do remove the lights and put them back in once the fairing in installed?

Hey the weather strips that are on yours the vertical ones they are thicker then what I got is that a up grade weather atrip

Interested is what speakers you used inside your inner fairing next to the triple trees? I know they need to be thin but how do they sound?

I used Rockfords. I did that install back in 2013. I know they have changed all of the sizes and models numbers since then. It was worth it!!! -Chad

What kind of speaker adapters do you have in the stock speaker position.

man what if your outer lines aren't lining up perfectly with the inner fairing ? basically one side of my fairing on the outer portion sits inward of the inner fairing giving the inner fairing a lip

Check the hooks in the front and make sure they are lined up. For me pulling the headlight assembly helped me see. If that isn’t the cause the inner and outer have a bit of play with them. You may just have to keep at it until you get it just right. Thanks for watching -Chad

Do you really have to remove the headlights ?

You don’t. I find it makes it easier if you do. Completely up to you. Removing the headlights allows you to see the hooks and they are only 4 screws a piece. Good luck with your project. -Chad

Its a real PITA to line up the firing hooks if you do not have the headlights removed. I would ALMOST say impossible.

I’ve been in that boat many times!! Just be sure to have it on the hooks by the headlight and then line up the tabs. It is frustrating you will get it eventually. Good luck and thanks for watching -Chad
