Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial. I just had a plumber out and he tried to charge me $520 ($468.00 with a discount) just to replace two shut off valves. I checked the price of those valves online and found the same exact ones for $10 apiece. I called him and before I could tell him how much I found them for, he said “I know, $20 for both”. Seriously? He took took another $150 off of my bill, but it wasn’t for the valves. He said the plumber double charged me for labor. That’s an 800% markup for two valves. This just makes me more determined to replace the next valves and faucets myself. It’s a sad greedy world we live in. Thanks to people like you who go online and do DIY‘s. You are saints for the vulnerable.

Wow that's crazy. If someone was working for $10 an hour, he or she would have to work for a week to have 2 shut off valves replaced.

😂 if I were that plumber I would have charged you more, changing the shut off valves is actual complex plumbing work... you sound like a Karan.

Looks good except you got the rubber washer/gasket upside down around the 12:00 mark. The cone shaped face of it should be pointed upward, not downward. You can verify this by looking at the old one you removed, plus look at how the washer was oriented on the new drain pipe while you still had it in the wrapper. Otherwise, great video!

Excellent video! So you use plumbers tape on both ends of the waterlines? I just installed a new faucet. The instructions said to use plumbers putty. What's the difference? Both same affect?

Wow big improvement. It's night and day. Do you think the 2 handle is better than the one handle option?
@KambiOutdoors7 ай бұрын
3 years later it has held up pretty well. I don't know if it's better but It does surely look better than what was there before.
@jonfreeman96827 ай бұрын
@@KambiOutdoors Thanks. I bought one too and you're right it looks nicer. I found the two handle option is functionally better because you get precise control over hot and cold water without guessing and adjusting back and forth. It also looks nicer with an aesthetic balance.

Love how they say "anybody can do it". And then starts puffing all the way. What about an older woman that has no muscles of a younger male? What if this is in powder room with very little space under the sink? What if washers are hard to access and already corroded that is very hard to remove them and certainly not with fingers. Etc, etc ... this is not an easy job, this is why plumbers are in business.

Well-done BUT one should ALWAYS wear rubber gloves to prevent skin infections from the garbage in pipes. It is SO easy to scratch your fingers/knuckles on something, then with garbage/gunk infecting said scratch you are asking for BAD infection----
