He's using map gas btw, it gets hot fast. He should have explained that. Yellow bottle is map gas. Blue bottle is propane which will work fine, but doesn't heat up nearly as fast. I know most already know this but since people don't. It's a safety issue and he should have got into that since propane is little more common and a bit safer if you are not used to doing this. That's my 2 cents nobody asked for. Bravojulietalpha out.

Yeah mapgas goes quick. I wouldn't put it up against my gun. I'd rather go low and slow

That used to be true. But there is no more MAPP gas. The current yellow stuff is NOT Mapp. It's a scam called "Map-Pro" and is barely hotter than propane. MAPP: 5300° Map-Pro: 3730° Propane: 3600°

11:50, so did you not put the crushed washer behind the shim? Is it not needed if you use a shim?

I watvhed this to see if they can help with the Sig Spear LT muzzle device. LoL not a chance, this thing is dipped in rockset. I paid Sig to remove it. They probably are just swapping barrels

I just did my Spear LT yesterday. Simmered it in boiling water for 20 min and that took care of the Rockset. Put whole upper/lower in a vise and snugged it down (it doesn't need to be tight, just tight enough to keep the gun from rotating). Put the wrench on the muzzle device and 5 or 6 strikes to the wrench with a rubber mallet and it came free (I prefer the strikes vs the constant pressure). We did five different guns yesterday and they were all different. The sig was the hardest but it was still easier than the CMMG I did last year.

Sig must get a huge discount from Rocksett for the amount they use on their muzzle devices. Both of my Spear LT uppers were drowned with the stuff. I used the boiling water like everybody uses and used my 3/8dr impact wrench with a AAC 3 prong muzzle device tool and hammer away. They come off, but one took some extra hammering to break it free. All is needed in one drop on clean threads to hold it.

That's easy.. don't need heat or even a vise. Can do it by hand with a wrench with ease

So how important is it to remove the barrel, or at least isolating it, like perhaps just taking the handguard off? Can I just put the complete upper in the vise somehow(I don't have any of those devices or "adapters" to lock an AR, or some part of an AR, into a vise, keeping it secure, and not damaging the receiver(or whatever) on the vise?) I feel like applying torque to the barrel without the barrel itself being isolated in a vise could cause all kinds of problems. Also, how do most people cure rocksett? Do they use heat guns, torches, or what? And how long does the heat need to be applied to have it properly set? I'm assuming it depends on the temperature of the heat source? I got a new can, and I've been putting off removing the factory flashhider and installing the muzzle break required for the brand of silencer I bought(OSS/HUX WRX.)

If you didn't try removing your flash hider, look into the Midwest Industries Upper Receiver Rod. This or something similar to it is a very secure & safe way to work on your upper. You wouldn't need to remove your rail to work on muzzle devices.

USING A SUPPRESSOR = SHIMS. NEVER USING A SUPPRESSOR =CRUSH WASHER This was not explained at all in the video. shims are not used when "you dont need it that tight ". they are used to keep the muzzle device square the bore so bullets don't hit the suppressor baffles(BAD DAY). crush washers can load the muzzle device unevenly off to one side. if your device does not accept a silencer then you can use a crush washer

@rmblwgn
@rmblwgn 6 ай бұрын
@@JayyMoney-vr7nv yes as there is nothing inside to hit if its misaligned. Unless you need it clocked a certain way you actually don't need to use a crush washer. A crush washer is for timing
