Thank you for this video! I'm old and just got a new e-bike and stripped out my "threadless" goose neck clamp thing-a-ma-jig while installing a neck extender. My star nut got rusty in less than a year. I guess the metal isn’t stainless. Do I need to worry the rust getting worse and seizing up the bolt to the point I can’t remove it one day? Or should I replace it when rust develops? Thanks

No need to worry as the star but is only there to hold the fork in place while you tighten the stem bolts. But also replacing them is easy and doesn’t cost much.

May want to set the bottom of the fork on something other than concrete though....

That isn’t concrete. That is a padded flooring like for a gym.

How much bigger should the star nut be than the tube it's going into?

It should just sit on too without going into the steerer tube. When you measure your steerer tube you might find that most bikes are 1 1/8 inch.
