In this video we are going to show you how to remove and replace front left or front right window regulator on a BMW e65 e66. It will be almost the same procedure for both front left window regulator and front right window regulator.
We demonstrated on the front left side how to remove it. You put it back together in reverse order that we took it apart.
This procedure should work on:

Just followed your video to get my regulator swapped out. Thank you very much! If I may add something, rather than using a vise-grip with the 5mm socket to get the lower bolt off the regulator, you can simply remove the bolt off the soft shock and move it aside. This will give you all the room you need to use a small ratchet with the 5mm socket.

Excellent video. Thank you. One problem I had was that the replacement window regulator was in the full up position. The glass would not install. With the regulator removed from the car, I removed the four screws holding the motor cover, carefully marked the cover orientation, and then removed the metal cover. Inside is the armature. I rotated the armature by hand while keeping it pressed in until the regulator moved to the desired position. Everything went back together well:)

I have the opposite issue. My driver side window regulator failed with the window all the way down. Won't travel back up at all. Would I have to rotate the regulator motor armature like you did? I You could have just pressed the button down for a split second to move the armature. The window won't move as the regulator is broken. I'm not sure what you did was necessary. The position of the armature is all screwed up anyway. When the regulator breaks while pressing the button, the armature is still moving but the window isn't. There is a window initialization process you should have done after the replacement. It calibrates the movement of the window so it doesn't travel too far or too short. Also replaced the mechanism today. With me there were still clips attached to the window so that the window could not come out, this makes it a lot more difficult but it worked. Still went on for 2.5 hours.

It seems those bottom 5mm bolts are threaded from the outside of the door when using 5mm socket are the still “lefty Lucy” or not to remove them? In same process right now...can’t seem to get a good grip on them..

At the 1:48 mark, there is a screw under the little circle cover where he starts prying at, if u don't remove this phillips screw, u will probably damage ur door panel from pulling, thinking u have gotten them all
