HOW TO REMOVE AND REPLACE VVT SOLENOID MAZDA CX-7 CX7 VARIABLE TIMING SOLENOID
In this video we will show you how to remove or replace the VVT Solenoid / Variable Timing Solenoid on Mazda CX-7. We demonstrated on a 2011 Mazda CX-7 but the procedure will be the same for the whole generation with the 2.3 engine from 2006 to 2012.

P0012 was fixed by replacing this solenoid.

Sorry the Part you are pointing too is called OIL CONTROIL SOLENIOD !AND ot a VVT ! The VVT is bolted the the camshaft ( This engine obviously has not been taken care of because of LACK OF OIL CHANGES ( IF IF YOU CHANGED THE OIL CONTROL VALVES THE VVT will not work properly because of the gum/sludge built inside the engine ) I recommend you watch one of my videos for changing the oil control solenoid or the VVT )

hi i have a code p0011 cx7 2008.just when the engine is warm.after other code which adds p0016 and misfire,running out of oil like a pint and a half now i change the regular hule 5w20 but the problem still.possible that the timing chain problem is to start after an update of antipollution at mazda ,thank you need a quick answer because I'm going back to mazda tomorrow morning to see if the update problem or not

It is located in the valve body of the transmission. You'd pretty much have to disassemble the transmission for access..

To BAD HE IS CALLING THE ocv A vvt 2 COMPLETELY DIFFRENT PARTS and if your engine is poorly maintained buying a new OIL CONTROL VALAVE WONT HELP MUCH !

I have oil coming out of my VVT severely!! Mine looks like it is recessed in too deep. We just replaced it with a whole bunch of other parts because of a "mechanic" breaking and loosing parts to our engine!

Fyi (for your information), you do not have to remove the intake to remove the OCV. That vehicle is so dirty because they did NO type of service to it!!! Lucky if it got regular oil changes!!!!! Probably why it has the code p0012 to begin with... 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

We have a 2008 cx-7 that did the same thing. It turned out to be the EGR valve and it was filthy!! After a good cleaning I reinstalled the valve and the car has been great since.

@@camp1308 Also signs of Turbo going out. Check the 2.5" black rubber hose going into the back of the intercooler for oil inside the tube. If theres lots of oil in there, turbo seals and eventually turbo. Sometimes turbo cartridges can be changed and turbo cleaned with seals.

Yes. It’s called the vvt solenoid gasket. Just gotta take off the valve cover like in this video.

I have a CX7 2011, when it warms it seems that the Solenoid begins to work, car runs smoothly again. Is this common? TY

Solenoids can be temperamental when dying. My mom had one go bad and she say her call is stalling and hesitating but my dad and I never saw the issue except once. Replace the solenoid and it’s gone.
