It's not AWESOME.... Gazing at a the Alps from the Jungfraujoch Sphinx (on top of the Eiger) is AWESOME. The Atlantic ocean in a storm is AWESOME. The planet Jupiter is AWESOME. A galaxy is AWESOME, as is a black hole, or a supernova. This 'tutorial' is about as awesome as an icepick in the forehead.

I'm having a hard time removing static with recording music from gaming devices including the Game Boy Advance SP and the Nintendo DS lite, I use the male to male cable to connect and the static stays and plays with the audio coming from the game, they play over each other and I can't seem to get the static out of the picture. Having a hard time removing the static with keeping the gaming audio in tact.

I don't understand why so many people uses this. Any noise reduction really just ruins your audio. any audio that has any background noise fused into the audio itself, and you try to get rid of it with noise reduction. all that's going to happen is that you might get rid of some of it, but in the process of that your audio will just start sounding like a robot, that you can't get rid of. Resulting in ruining your audio. Also the residue option litterally doesn't do anything at all. Now I'm not putting any hate to Audacity. Personally I love Audacity, it's a really great audio editing software that's completely free, and open source. Different from a lot of other audio editing software that's closed sourse, and have a paid version, some with a free version as well, but less features. I'm really just putting hate on noise reduction as a feature that doesn't really help, or fix an issue, just makes audio worse in the process. It's a nice feature to have, but that's really all it has going for it, but doesn't really do much, but makes audio worse in the process.

Exactly! I've been googling for about a week straight to try to get background noise removed using this noise reduction and whatever settings i choose it distorts it so much it starts getting the robotic noise. Every single tutorial online says the same thing. Very annoying indeed.

retired computer repair tech , turn off your computer , disable internet connection , turn on computer in save mode ( learn how on line ), run your antivirus then run malewarebytes free it will find anything. If nothing was found there is nothing there , restart your computer reconnect internet and your good to go

Could just be a crappy mic. Or you're too close to a wall without any soundproofing. Pin a blanket or two up and test for difference.

Audacity was recording fine, until I was forced to change audio drivers on my PC, due to the awful Realtek drivers suddenly causing audio issue. After the driver change - Audacity's recording suddenly developed UNACCEPTABLE background noise, visible on the screen soundwave and very annoyingly in actual audio playback. The noise threshold rendered recording on Audacity impossible no matter what I was recording via any of the input devices. . So no, these instructions were not helpful at all. I've never had to employ noise reduction before the audio driver change. This is unique to Audacity/Toshiba's audio drivers.

Sounds like your mic inputs are now picking up the EMI/coilwhine from your motherboard MOSFETS or something due to driver update. Crappy motherboards (like my Gigabyte) tend to do that. Have you used another mic (maybe try a USB one) to try and eliminate the fault?
