I have noticed one thing.... When your voice is not clear in the original video... The AI tries to recreate it and makes it clearer but it seems robotic. But if its clear AI keeps it as it is and enhances it...

A great video. To me, this is where AI will really help in audio & video production. Even with software as good as Izotope RX, you're still often spending a lot of time tweaking settings to get the end result. As AI programs like this improve, it becomes fast and easy.

Hey Justin! Great video! Which free method is your personal go-to for noise reduction? And how do you choose whether to export the amended audio as Wav or MP3? (I noticed your older video re Audacity you exported the audio as Wav; in this video you exported as MP3). I've just started editing a video and you can hear our new subfloor ventilation fan in the background because I forgot to shut a door 😂

Ambient sounds are important. They let us know that you were there. Just eliminate the distracting ones, while leaving others (e.g. seagulls on the beach). This now sounds as sterile as if it was recorded in a studio.

There are several good background noise filter plugins that let you sample. Record a background and it learns that sound and removes it. Then mix your filtered sound with this voice filter and you will loose some of the tinnyness of the adobe and vocal drops on the descript.

I wonder if Adobe will ever include the AI noise-reduction tools in their software? It's kind of a hassle to roundtrip a file from a website. But I'm guessing it's because Adobe has some serious hardware in their datacenters in the cloud. It would be nice to do this natively in Adobe Premiere. NVidia has some amazing noise-reduction that runs locally... so we know it's possible.

I think it comes down to the clips you're adding in, overall my experience has been really good, but you can see it did a much better job with one of the two clips in this example

In both the beach and the street clip the voice is already 100% intelligible - before processing. Why not give the tools examples where the speech is partially or fully *unintelligible* because of the background noise.

Descript has a watermark so it's not actually free if you want to upload your videos. Edit: You get ONE video for free without a watermark but that's it. Also if you want to use Studio Sound for any clip longer than 10 minutes you have to pay. So Descript is not a good free option. This was a huge waste of my time.

Your Stats for nerds Volume / Normalized is 6.8 when it should be between -3 dB & 0. So it appears that whatever NLE you used it was not appropriately configured for YOU TUBE so, most likely they F-ed with your audio, and what we hear is not what you sent to YT. Am I Correct?

It’s better not to record bad audio to begin with, all this AI background noise removal software, just leave artifacts and sometimes remove parts of the audio, that should not heve been removed. Maybe in a few years when it’s become a lot better, we can look back and see how bad it actually was, kind of like 3D looked 20 years ago, back then we thought it looked amazing, now we just see how terrible it was. I would rather do the extra work to begin with, so I get great audio, instead of relying on these lazy methods that everyone seems to be doing now a days.
