Does this process also apply to the 2002 pre-facelift model? I'm thinking of replacing my bumper with an M tech bumper.

Mostly apply, but for an M tech bumper to fit you will need extra bumper holder on both side because they are different than the factory ones. This guy explains it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2W7iYSKmaxjo80
