very helpful! Tried putting all planetary gears back in all at once. More then three times I tried this to no avail expecting different results 😲finaly I settled down😬... then whent one gear at a time. tricky part I did not catch first time was two little pins that hold clutch on plastic clutch ingage part...after I figured that out no problem👍 some are capable of doing this some need every detail dont worry about comments. easy if your patient and can pay attention to what your doing. your vid was just what i needed especially that 7mm trick on the gear, that was a HUGE HELP!!! thanks!!!!

You took the whole drill apart becuse you needed to stop the shaft from rotating to remove the chuck. I abandoned the hex key and hammer a long time ago after it failed to work on a tight chuck. Chuck a big hex bit socket in the drill and put the socket on an impact wrench. Works every time and sure beats taking the drill apart.

Even 550 Newton Meters does not loosen up that chuck. :(

My driver drill's chuck has misaligned jaw (2 stucked at lower part, 1 at middle part). This method still unable to fix my drill issue. Do i need to replace the entire chuck?

With Makita, once that reverse thread is out, put a T40 torx in its place on an impact in reverse and just give a quick squeeze. Runs the chuck right off

MB Irankiai Profesionalams It actually wasn't too bad and I don't have any repair shops near me so I'd have to ship back and forth for warranty or buy a new one and still wait for delivery. I can send a couple pics I took of the process. It's basically one plastic ring pry off top, snap ring #1, outter grip, snap ring 2, a collar inside and the jaw teeth pop out.

Have you you got any tips on removing makita dhp458 chuck.. The retaining screw snapped ages ago during use.. But now the chucks worn i need to change it.. Ive tried the allen key trick a few times and also trie using an impact driver to release it.. But its not budged

You can drill off screw had and use allen key method and then heat screw and take it out... Or you can disassemble gear assy and hold assy in vise or something similar to unscrew chuck and brake screw...

When someone makes a guide video, he wants to help people solveing problems. To share his experience or knowledge. And this what you did. So thank you. However, an "How To..." video should show your knowledge and not to share your efforts trying to solve a problem. Especially if the guidance is misleading. You don't disassemble the whole tool just for removing a chuck.

Actually, I have to disagree with you. This isn't a polished demonstration video - just some bloke trying to show people how to do stuff and, sometimes, it doesn't work properly. Half of the battle in learning just how these machines are put together is in the different methods you may need to disassemble them. However, I do understand your reasoning, as he did title it a "'How to", and not a "How I did it" but, personally, I appreciate his 'warts and all' approach and, even if some of the camera angles are a bit funky or frustrating sometimes, his no-nonsense methods and simple explanations allow you to concentrate more on what he is doing with his hands, which is the important bit :). (I'm definitely of the "monkey see, monkey do" approach to tool fixing) Also, I don't know of anyone else who is stripping down and fixing as many of these Makita drills and the model I'm trying to fix is among them...
