This video is going to show you just how fast and easy it can be to remove dip powder nails at home. It can be difficult to remove dip powder but once you know the proper technique it can be quite simple. There is no “easy” way to remove dip powder nails buy this is definitely the most simple way I have found so far that works great for me! It is the less complicated way to remove dip powder nails and it involves acetone, hot water, paper towels and a bucket of water... I hope you all enjoy!

Here is my best method for dip removal. After buffing off top coatl: 1) rub Vaseline around nails 2) soak small piece of cotton with acetone and place on each nail 3) wrap tightly with foil 4) place hands in EMPTY ziploc bag 5) place hand in bag into bowl of hot water and soak for 5 minutes. This reduces amount of acetone needed, is super fast and isn't so harsh on hands and nails.

That’s how I do it and it works really well . Only takes about 4 minutes but my water is as hot as I can stand it . I usually do three layers of dip .

That worked for me as well but lately the water is so hot and the steam gets the acetone wet and it ends up taking me longer to soak off. So frustrating.

I've been doing my own nails with SNS dip powder for probably close to 5 years now. I don't do anything fancy and have struggled finding a good way of the removal. I tried this method last night. it did shorten the time a bit but I had to soak longer then you mentioned the video. Must admit having my hands in the bag and placing the bag in hot water was more relaxing then the method of soaking the nails in straight (cold) acetone or trying to wrap each nail in aluminum foil with cotton soaked acetone. I'll definitely be using this method from now on. I look forward to watching more of your videos! Thank you!!

Hi Ruth, what brand SNS do you recommend? I don't want to buy some terrible crap from Amazon! TIA!

@@nicolephillips2312, I have several of the SNS dipping powders but most of the time use the natural pink. I use the SNS gel base & SNS super dry sealer with the powder. I apply a thin coat of the gel base to the whole nail, dip into the powder, apply the gel base to the top 1/2 of the nail then dip, apply gel base to about 3/4 of nail and dip in powder again. The final coat covers the whole nail again with gel base then dip in the powder. I do lightly brush off excess each time I dip into the powder. Once all nails have been dipped the final time, I apply the super dry sealer to all the nails. I use a nail file and buffer to shape the way I like my nails to look. I don't use the SNS top coat anymore. I ordered one called "Excuse Me Quick Dry Fast Nail Polish Top Coat" and really prefer it over the SNS top coat. I did order everything off Amazon. Hope this is helpful for you!

I have to agree that this is a great technique. I'll use it next time and frankly, not knowing about dip powders for my second dip go, this is something I already considered. However, that tool to take off the remainder can be very, very damaging to your nails, much moreso than waiting a few more minutes in the baggie. I know, I'm very impatient myself. But I'd rather soak for a few more minutes than remove bits of the nail. With every chip you take off of polish, there's a very thin layer of the nail bed that's also removed. THIS is way worse than sitting your protected-from-acetone nails for a few minutes longer in the acetone. Remember, the nail itself isn't live tissue and it will come apart in layers if you use a metal scraping tool. Your live skin will also be unharmed by a few more minutes in acetone. Yes, the cuticle will be dryer, but there's oil for that. Damaged nails because they've been filed/sanded/scraped will NOT recover. It's not live tissue. Nothing will repair that. No polish, no product, no oil ... nothing ... because it's not live tissue.

New to dip powder but finally found the solution to my life long weak nail problem. Question: does the hot water accelerate the removal process?
@maggierose7689
@maggierose7689 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! It definitely speeds up the process! The hotter the water the better (and faster)! But just be careful to not make the water too hot because you don’t want to burn yourself. Just make the water as hot as you can stand to the touch. 😉

Acetone is acetone if it's 100%, so you can get the cheapest you can find and it all works the same. I'm a woodworker (which is why I had to go to dip polish ... nothing else is strong enough to last through sanding, wood dryness (makes other polishes chip day one), and all of the chemicals and finishes I use. What am I currently using? The acetone I bought for my woodshop because that's what I currently have. Acetone removes the oily layer of exotic wood so it will glue properly (sound familiar?), so I had a quart of it. I bought it before I did the per ounce cost. So, when buying acetone, do the math and buy the cheapest per ounce because 100% acetone is the same no matter how it's packaged and for what purpose. All the same chemical makeup or it wouldn't be acetone. Shoot. Now I'm going to have to wear gloves when cleaning my wood with acetone. Small price I suppose.

Acetone is NOT bad for your skin. Yes, it will dry it out, but noting more harsh than that. Just wash it off and apply lotion and you're good. Nails aren't living tissue, so no harm there. Our skin is thicker than you think and the skin is an organ that is specifically designed to protect from mild chemicals like acetone. If it was bad for us, it wouldn't be used for nail polish removal.

Sorry, but another note. Acetone melts Styrofoam in seconds. It also removes superglue if you get your fingers stuck together. If any sponge one tries to use has any form of Styrofoam, the sponge WILL leave bits on your nails. Sponges will work well as long as they are all natural, which are expensive. So, I agree. Paper towels are better because you never know what's used in sponges. Sponges aren't required by the FDA to list the components. So, why don't you want too much acetone except that you're wasting product? If you're soaking your nails in a paper towel flooded in acetone, what difference does "too much" make? I agree, don't waste, but it's not an issue of "too much" for your nails as you're soaking them anyway. Come on, now.
@maggierose7689

As I said in the video, you can use any 100% acetone and simply stated my favorite brand. I also said “you don’t want too much”…you can think what you want about why I said that but I was simply saying you don’t need a lot because it’s not necessary.
