I want to thank you so much for these instructions. I have cleaned my dishwasher multiple times and never knew that you could pry apart the filter assembly. There was quite a bit of debris there.

At time stamp 3:32 There's a cover covering the macerator, basically a built-in garbage disposal. You'll want to pull that cover off as well and clean that area for debris and the screen. It's held on by a single screw.

@@torr12369my question too. My dishwasher ~ during Covid a neighbor helped me replace the dishsoap apparatus (which wouldn’t stay closed). Now it won’t open even though it’s snapping open closed nicely. I’ve never cleaned it ever. However I wouldn’t think that’s what’s causing soap dispenser to not open. Help!

I have a Kenmore, Ultra Wash dishwasher. It is the plain-jane model with the white plastis tub. It is 27 years old & until now, it has worked flawlessly. If fact, I bought it at an estate sale & paid $65. Pretty nice return on my money spent.

This was insanely helpful. Mine had a couple pieces of broken glass down inside the spindle area, keeping the bottom wash bar from spinning. Easy fix once I understood the disassembly. Thank you.

Great video. i was procrastinating on the cleaning , but this helped to get it started. The one piece that was not clear: does the washer go under the top spinner or above the filter? your video shows under the spinner , but not sure if this is correct?

in walmart, where you get the dishwasher pellets, there are other bottles of cleaning products specifically designed to clean the machine of gunk that you can run through it every now and then. There is also a bottle of lime-scented crystals (looks like course salt) that you can add WITH your pellet when you wash a load, that does the same. Works very well. If you do it regularly, it keeps the machine clear of grease/gunk buildup. I had a machine that was very, very built up with fatty residue, and literally one wash with that stuff cleared it all out. Try it.

@@ckslums there are a few options, but I add Lemi Shine Dish Detergent Booster a few times a month with dishes, but you could use Glisten Dishwasher cleaner, used WITHOUT dishes just by itself, to give the machine a good thorough clean.

I actually tried looking for the Lemi ones but they were out of stock. Afresh worked fine however. Appreciate you taking the time to reply to me anyway. You were a help even before the reply!

Giving a thumbs up, but it would have been helpful to explain what you did between 6:00 and 6:10 to make the bottom sprayer fit. I finally figured it out. You do NOT push the part you turn by hand down into the hole. Just set it there, sitting on the top edge of the hole in the filter, then place the top/back pipe on it, and the bottom sprayer will fit right on.

Thank you for a helpful video. Any ideas if the Smart Wash, Normal Wash, Delay Hours, and Cancel Drain buttons are all flashing? I feel like I have to press an ever-changing rocket launch sequence to either drain or continue, but it stops mid-cycle (more like 2 min into the cycle).

I have a kenmore elite model 722.14677.710 and it’s spinning arms have 4 and no visible screw at top center to pull them up and out in order to get to filter/screen (filter won’t rotate with spin arms intact) what do I do??? So frustrating

I pulled the filter and gear looking cover below it off (the last thing you pulled off before reassembling) and there was standing water there. Is that normal?

So you put all the screws in when replacing the big part but take the additional screw out upon dismantle? Or do you put the last screw in after putting the back part on in the angled position?

The last screw on the back left cannot be removed until the back/top sprayer assembly is removed. Likewise, it must be screwed back in before reinstalling the back/top sprayer.

I had the same issue, i took some needlenose pliers and gently turned it to the left, it rose up and was able to spin freely so i could get the bottom arm on and tighten it.
