I'm a professional mechanic, have been for 50 years. I have Alldata, but Alldata is useless for things like this. Thank God I discovered the internet 15 years ago, it amazes me how much useful information is posted to youtube. I could have gotten the panel off, but knowing exactly what is required is such a help. I believe I have broken wires in the boot from the door to the body. I remove the door panel and kick panel. I do not repair the wires inside the boot. I run new wires from the kick panel into the door so fresh wire is inside the boot, not a sloppy repair in an area with no room to work. Old video, but thanks! My daughter managed to pull the panel loose by yanking the door closed. I'll be taking it off and hoping the clips, not the clip holders broke. Also broke the inner recess where you grab the door to close it. I bought the WJ last spring and it was pristine. The doors closed with a nice thump. Now they rattle from slamming. Trying to teach but teaching requires listening.

@ralongor There may be a clasp on the plug end that you need to push on. Some of the plugs have these to help to keep them attached to the resistor so that they do not wiggle free.

Thanks for posting this video. I had seen a picture description, but this is much better. I have a 2000, and all of my locks are making the quacking noise. The passenger front quit working. Just a note, 7 of the 11 clips broke when I was removing the panel. They look nothing like the ones in this video. Checking a dealer site, they claimed the clips were designed for 1 time use only! Also a dealer wanted nearly $6/clip! But I found some at an auto parts store and made them work.

These Jeeps are pretty famous for their electric door locks messing up. Wish you had a video covering replacing the those door lock actuators. I'm gonna try, when it warms up a bit, but they look like some sort of primative creature and are probably as difficult to install. Thanks anyway for the videos

The can be tough little buggers to remove sometimes. If you happen to break a couple, the dealer should be able to get them for you.

You can probably apply some of the basic procedures to remove it, but the way some of the trim peices attach may be different.

if the door won't close then the issue might be the panel was not aligned correctly when you installed it back onto the door frame.

I found it in under the passenger dashboard and saw the two wires that I need to disconnect. I am having a hard time disconnecting them, is there a trick to it? or do I just need to pull hard enough? What is that part actually called, the one you called a cup holder? I know it's not the only thing broken on my door, with that force you used to get the door off even after undoing the screw there, but I'm trying to find a replacement tray online, since all three of the areas where the screws go is broken, but I can't get the right part to pop up.

Thanks, last weekend I rolled down the passenger window and something popped inside then the window slid down by itself. My biggest worry was breaking clips on the door panel. Keep in mind you have Newton's law, Murphy's law and then MY LAW! If it's going to happen it's going to happen to me. Thanks for the tips. :)

Help, when taking off the door panel to install a new window regulator the door locking metal rod ( 2 that connect to the door panel not sure what it's called) one popped out completely from inside the door. It's impossibe to see inside the door to see where this connects back. Help!

As I personally think torx screws are the most stupid idea as opposed to a straightforward flat/star screwdriver, why in the name of God does the panel have 2 conventional screws & easy out with a screwdriver then screw up the removal procedure by installing ONE of those crap torx screws instead of a full standard format? As I am in the process of investigating a major ingress of water in my UK grand Cherokee, but am yet to discover the source as sun roof drainage appears clear.
