Or you just keep the drum sample in there and add your own drums on top. Sometimes thats not possible if the drums are too present but mostly I just kept them in there.

Its possible that a sample in 320 go throw mix and mastering process and still keep the quality? Im asking it because I dont belive that nowadays producers are all looking for 24 bits Wav samples. that's part of the challenge. You could also experiment with side EQ, in particular if you notice the drums are panned.

Let's say two instruments are on the same frequency, they'll both be affected . There's no way around it . Let's say it's a kick and bass. You can filter out the kick and bass so it's barely audible, and then replay the bass line and kick yourself. Or you can use an eq and put the que to as small as possible ( it makes the eq do this shape /\ and can be more narrow or wider depending on the que), and pin point the troubling frequencies and dip down so you only affect a small portion of the sample. How much you would attenuate depends on how present the kick is in the sample. But remember: use with caution and be aware of phasing when you try to layer the drums. I usually try to find a similar sounding kick when I dip the eq down and take away a drum from the sample. Let's say that i dip down at around 80 khz. I'll search for a drum with a good amount of that frequency to fill the void in the sample and put a low pass on it but only enough to take out the high end of the kick because most likely, the high end of the kick in the sample, may be very present. In a case like that, it's kind of like making up for a frequency that i removed from the sample and taking away from the kick because it exists within the sample. It's all compensation. You giveth and taketh away. Hopefully that makes sense .

Jorge Cordeiro I don't limit myself to only sampling at .wav, uncompressed quality. High-quality mp3s typically will work fine for me.
