How to: Remove E46 M3 Oil Pan!

Today, we're going to be removing the oil pan off this E46 M3 convertible! This is part 1 of a series whereby we will also change the rod bearings on the motor. But first, we must tackle removing the subframe and associated parts, which is explained in detail by the end of the video :)

Did the oil pan on my e39 525it a few months back. It was a pretty big job but working on the old bimmer is becoming actually kind of fun. Having it as an "extra" car definitely takes the stress out of it and watching your videos help a lot!

This is the first time I have seen that spoiler on another E46! I have (looks almost the same) one that was yanked from a body kit in the UK. I figured i was one of the only people to have this in the US. Very cool!

Really good video. Right in the middle of my oil pan gasket job. I had the rod bearings done 5 years ago and the pan is leaking again. As M539 did with that Alpina using thin coat of Reinzosil on the factory as really really do not want to do this job again.

Curious...I saw an M54 comment somewhere that required 'tensioning' (not torqueing) the trans bolts first otherwise you may not get the pan sealed back agains the trans and may develop a leak later. Can't find a spec on this.

When you use the engine flush do you just put new oil in or do you flush it again with a cheaper oil? I’m thinking of doing this to my car but I’m not sure how bad it is to have some of that stuff left behind in the engine.
