So how do you put the handle back? The carrier is properly installed and all I have to do is slip that handle into the right spot. The reverse-thread screw plays a part in this, I think.

@@bimmermerchant Not yet. The part is coming in today. I plan on working on it tomorrow. I can figure out how to get the lock and handle off the front left driver door, but I cannot find any info on how to remove the door handle carrier on the inside of the door. Can it be removed with the window regulator still in place? You mentioned you had a video of this but I cannot find it. Any help would be great!!

take it for what it is worth but when removing he handle it is not suggested to "pull" the handle back. Should first be pushed towards the trunk to , you will feel the handle come out , you can then pull back and rock it out. Great video, very well presented, thank you.

Hi I have just had the key barrel changed for my e46 driver door and before the central locking worked but after the key barrel replacement it is not working now. Could the mechanic that have done the repair cause this, does the changing o the key barrel interfere with the micro switch in anyway? Could he have knocked something loose?

i do have an 2001 x5 3.0i and recently my remote key does not unlock or lock the doors anymore if i press the button on my remote. so started using my key manually to unlock and lock my door. but today when i parked my car in the garage. i locked the car using my key manually and i felt no more resistance after locking it. as i tried to unlock it, nothing happens. what could possibly the thing that went bad? or i need to replace? thnx!

I have a question.on my 99 323i my passenger front door handle doesn’t work.like its completely loose.i pull and there’s no tug whatsoever.could the part where the screw goes for the handle to stay on the door be broken?

Have you replaced battery in your key fob? That could be the reason why its not responding. I beleive battery is 2025. It also seems like you need to replace your key cylinder, that is why you are not getting resistance when turning it.

So my sister has a 2001 BMW 325i and the drivers door lock doesn't lock when you put the key in the hole, But it does unlock. I'm thinking of replacing it for her but not sure if I really need to or not. Does anyone have knowledge of what could be the problem? Besides the obvious the key hole might not work, is there something else?

Sounds like your key cylinder end pin that connects to door actuator needs replacing soon. No a hard removal process.

Yep you are correct, those allen keys should be metric.

That inside bolt is actually a t15 torx bit, and you should be using a metric allen key for the first bolt
