Would a little Crisco help? Vegetable oil is sometimes used when flaring steel.

What if the dent is over the lip in the area where we put the mouth to play? Can it be removed?

Thanks for the video. I have two questions: Will this work on a nickel silver flute? Can I use a mandrel that is not rounded at the end or will that do damage to the inside of the flute? Thanks so much!

Yes, this will work on a nickel s0ilver flute. A mandrel that is not rounded may work, but a rounded mandrel will work a lot better.

so my head joint is stuck on the body, what do i do?
@TheBrassandWoodwindShop4 жыл бұрын
Have someone hold the head joint and twist one direction while you CAREFULLY hold the body and twist the other direction. Be very careful not to bend the keys while you are doing this. If it does not come off easily, you will not want to risk damaging it. Take it to a repair shop.

god i would do this but mandrels are kinda pricey😅

I thought you were going to use a "two hands" roller to finish it. Since all flutes have the same outside diameter, there should be a roller with near perfect diameter.

Yes, they do make a flute head joint roller, but I prefer using the mandrel. A lot of people use the roller. I always suggest that people use whatever works best for them.
