Grant Leslie went good. Had to adjust fire a little for having power steering so the lines had to be disconnected before dropping the subframe. Also my subframe (2000) didn’t have the long trailing bars as pictured in the video. So it runs great now. And we just finished replacing the shocks on all four corners so it rides great too.

A brilliant video. My daughter in-law is having gear box trouble with a Yaris. I've done a few clutches on rear wheel drive cars over the year's, basically you can do them sleep walking. @@PistonShack Are the 2007 Toyota Yaris different than this because it was the first fwd clutch I ever did on Sunday Nov 3 '19 and I didn't have to do any of the things done in this video 😂. I didn't have to drop the subframe , did not take out the radiator or cut the swaybar endlinks. I'm so glad I watched this video after I actually did mine. Would have totally screwed myself LoL. Took me 7 hours only because I tried to buy a pilot bearing (learned these cars don't use one) and then I couldn't figure out how to get the dowel pins out of the flywheel so I tried to buy those too (nobody had) then my friend told me the Visegrip and 2 prybars method , pins were out in seconds. Probably could do it in less than 4 hours easy... Cool video tho 😎 maybe Echo different or you need to kill the person who gave you those instructions 😂.
@PistonShack5 жыл бұрын
@@turblown Yeah, that was challenging learning process you went through. Well, up to 2005 models you need to drop the sub-frame to get gearbox out. There's no other way around. I tried to minimize amount of parts taken off. I done gear boxes and clutch before on different vehicles, but this project took me around 15 HRS to get everything done. I am glad this vid helped you out with your repair. BZW, thanks or sharing your experience ) Cheers!

@joeidaho59382 жыл бұрын
With this Echo, you have to take down the sub-frame. The part absolutely not necessary is taking out the radiator, rad support, idle air control, throttle body, hood latch and so on. You also don't have to take out the sway bar. You can leave it in, attached to the tie rod ends, and just unfasten the swaybar bushing brackets from the sub-frame. Also, on the transmission mount at the right front, all you need to do is remove the 3 bolts into the transmission. The rest can be left in place. Watch Uncle Tinman's video on the same subject....and he does a much more efficient job at replacing the clutch on this car.

@PistonShack4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack! Are talking about fuel tube connector (quick type)? There's few steps: 1. Remove the fuel pipe clamp. 2. Check if there is any dirt like mud on the pipe and around the connector before disconnecting them and clean the dirt away. 3. When the connector and the pipe are stuck, pinch the retainer between the hands, push and pull the connector to free to disconnect and pull it out. Okay, for the metallic type of connector you need to get one of this tools: OTC 6509 Fuel Line Disconnect Tool or similar type. Cheers!

Hi Jack, There's two ways to do it: 1) install engine hangers, what Toyota recommends,one at the front above the alternator, second one at the back of the engine near to 4th cylinder - I don't have them, it means it won't work for me; 2) get strap hooked up how I did on the video to support the engine at the back near the bell housing; second one run at the front of the engine. Kinda like that. Let me know what you figured out or if you have any questions. Stay warm!

Hello Halide, Thanks for sharing your situation. Also, to separate O2 problem from the lean condition check if your Short fuel trim showing ECU adding extra +30% fuel to correct value. Add propane to the intake right after the air filter to see if your sensor responding to the extra fuel added. If your voltage went up to 1000mV sensor is responding but you don't have respond at your O2 sensor (shows 0) this is not lean condition. We have a bad sensor. It could be wiring problem down to the sensor, check signal wire for shorts to the ground will pull signal down. Bad ground on sensor will run voltage up. Replace sensor always with factory made one. Cheers brotha!

@kamalhussein803 жыл бұрын
Plenty of room. U almost disassembled every part
@joeidaho59382 жыл бұрын
Agree with you. The radiator, rad support and hood latch, throttle body definitely did not need to be removed. It's easy to work from under vehicle, once on jack stands. The sub frame removal might be necessary. The rest is a waste of time and energy. Also, not necessary to remove tie rod ends or swaybar. The cv axle comes out simply from removing strut bolts and wheel hub bolt. This repair likely took way too long than was necessary. The bushings on the sway bar ends can be reused, if not cut. Not bad to replace them, but there is really no need to cut them. They can be removed easily without cutting them.
