How to Remove Glue & Tape Residue From EDC's,Kitchen Knives, & Scissors

I've been using Hoppe's number 9 gunpowder solvent for years. Works really well for taking off sticky residue from packing tape etc.

For stubborn labels I have to remove, I like to use a heat gun on low temperature setting. It softens the glue and it will peel right off. When I have to open a lot of packages and break down boxes, I like to use a Gerber EAB. It uses the small double ended contractor type utility blades. Cardboard will really dull a knife quickly. Why waste your good EDC knife blade on such a task?

I have a 20 year old full serrated Spyderco Endura that eats cardboard for lunch and ask for seconds I also carried it for the majority of my police career if you have to cut boxes and want a knife that last a Spyderco fully serrated blade is my favorite I sharpen it one or 2 times a year

Goof Off is the ticket for sure. I use it regularly on whatever EDC I’m carrying. I open and breakdown a lot of boxes (thank you Amazon!). A little bit off Goof Off cleans the residue off like magic. I didn’t know about the new tape and adhesive remover. I’ll be ordering from Amazon today! Ahhh…another box to open and breakdown! 😂

@@rickbottoms7838 I use it all the time on my EDCs because I hate glue on them. I actually have old cheap serrated knives that I use for boxes I leave one at my trash can old kitchen serrated knives are great for breaking down boxes

Alot of people swear by ronsonol lighter fluid but you can just use naphtha

Exactly, mineral spirits work exceptionally well. As does dilimonene

@@fldiverjc4496 the goof off smells good well that is the tape and gunk one the pro strength is strong stuff and reminds me of mineral spirits

@@robfahey1349 basically same thing as goof off. I buy goof off for work because Fire Marshall generally doesn’t like seeing bottle of lighter fluid on shelf. Lol.

Pro Strength Goof Off will take care of almost everything!

That stuff does work good. I used to use soap and water and a scrub brush. What are your thoughts about WD-40 and a scrub brush? I want to give my customers a nice sharp but clean product without harming them. I have also tried windex.
