What’s the name of the orange lake county pad
@mikephillipsrealworlddetailing29 күн бұрын
That is the Lake Country HDO or Heavy-Duty Orbital Orange Foam Polishing Pad. Since this video, I've switched my classes over to the Buff and Shine EdgeGuard pads due to a better design and more options for types of foam. That said, in the BIG PICTURE - the type of pad tends to be the least important factor when it comes to paint correction ASSUMING you're matching the right type of pad to the process. For example - if you're doing heavy paint correction, you would match a foam CUTTING pad to the process, not a foam finishing pad. The most important factor is always the abrasive technology. Can a Random Orbital Polisher be used with the same effect?
@mikephillipsrealworlddetailing2 ай бұрын
Do you mean, *"Can a random orbital polisher put holograms into car paint?"* The answer is "no". The specific definition for holograms is: A specific scratch pattern imparted by a rotary polisher and usually some type of fiber pad but can also be imparted by foam cutting pads and of course, the abrasive technology can also be the cause for holograms (along with the pad used). Thank you for watching and commenting. -Mike Phillips

Flip the metallic… that’s new information me. Thanks for that. I’m in the market for a new cordless three inch DA. I’m doing a couple vehicles everyday (auction cars and dealerships trades) what do you suggest in the three to five hundred category? Thanks for the video. Cheers 🍻

The best cordless mini-polisher that I've used is the FLEX PXE-80 - that said, I pretty much only use it with the optional 6mm drive unit as the 3mm and the 12mm simply are not functional. Or I use it with the rotary drive unit for rotary work. Thank you for watching and commenting. -Mike Phillips

Great job, chief 👍 which speed do you use on rotory and DA? THANKS
@mikephillipsrealworlddetailing2 ай бұрын
For rotary, I primarily use the FLEX cordless PE-150 and for clearcoats I run on the 3-speed setting, for gelcoat boats, I run at the 6-speed setting. For DA? I primarily use the original FLEX XC 3401 VRG aka the BEAST and run this on the highest speed setting - 6 - if the dial went to 7 I would run it at the 7-speed setting. @@mikephillipsrealworlddetailing maestro, another question) Can I lead rotory like 8 passes like DA? or it's too much? Maybe you know a best technique for rotory😊 Thank you for your knowledge 👍👍👍👍

I can see the difference but that is a tough color to see significant difference in correction. Great info shared and that rotary angle took a while to get back in early 2000's when i started using rotary. I will say i can finish with a rotary foam pad and get just as good results as DA

So here's how I operate. I use what I have. I had an ugly gold AMC Pacer with holograms, so this is what I used. It's really that simple. Sometimes I have dark colored cars that are jacked-up and sometimes light-colored cars. It's always changing. What I try to do is LEVERAGE whatever I have to share how-to info with others. Been doing this since I wrote my first car detailing book, *The art of polishing paint* back in *1998* - probably longer ago than most people watching this video have been alive. Like @socaluberdude6648 said in their comment, it would be *poor etiquette* and even a tick *rude* to my employer to share this kind of information. The thing I always do is TEST everything on *BLACK* paint. Black shows everything. And here's the deal, some of the good brands on the market work well on medium and hard paints but leave micro-marring in soft paints. So, the hardest thing to do is to formulate abrasive technology that works on *ALL* paints. For what it's worth, I have videos on this KZbin channel where I use Dr. Beasley's abrasive technology to UNDO the damage caused by another big-name brand - and this was on soft paint. Here's the link to that video and I won't share the brand that caused micro-marring, as a professional courtesy to that brand. Like I said, it's *HARD* to create a product that finishes down on soft paint. *Hard vs. Soft Paint on Cars | 🔴 LIVE Online Detailing Class with Mike Phillips* kzbin.info/www/bejne/baWQqmShp61mmZY So, if you really want to know if any given brand is great, test it on black paint. Then chemically strip your test spot and inspect with a good, strong, swirl finder light. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Mike Phillips

Are holograms born from heat or just abrasion of wool fibers? I could ask a million questions. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Did you write a book yet?
