Hey I just replaced the gasket and got it back together. Everything is good except reverse. You don’t have to push the button and squeeze the brake it just goes straight to reverse after neutral. Any ideas what I might if done wrong?

I have a 1990 trx300 2wd and. It runs and shifts good expect sometimes it hesitates and when i turn it off i hear a rolling sound on the left side of the case?? any ideas??

Hey my buddy went to mess with the clutch adjustment on my 97 trx300 4wd and now the jam nut that goes around the flathead screw just keeps spinning on the screw. I cannot get it to tighten up nor can i get the nut to spin off. Now that it is messed up the kick start has no resistance and the shift lever is very sloppy? Any suggestions? New clutch cover?

Do you have to pull the engine off the frame or can you do it on the frame?

@brettphilips did you have it in neutral. I replaced the clutches in mine and it won't disengage and go into neutral when I pull the shifter up. I have taken my side case off 7 times and adjusted it right and idk what to do

+Charles Ham Watch very carefully at the point where I put what looks like a triangle with ball bearings on it ,it also has a spring on it. That is what disengages your clutch there's an adjustment on the outside with a flat blade screwdriver. If you keep having problems I can make a video to show you let me know

+Brett Phillips thanks for your response but they ended up sending me the wrong clutch plates. They fit perfectly but they were too thick to let the clutch basket disengage

Are the clutches the same for a 300EX as they are for a TRX 250

The case bolts are about 10 foot pounds the rest of it I don't really worry about. I really don't worry about the Casebolt either. But if you wanted to torque them 10fp should do

The clutch is automatic. It is actuated when you pull the shift lever. The thing you pull for reverse is just a reverse lockout. The clutch is fully automatic. Built into the action of the shift lever.

It's the mechanic clutch (clutch on the left, behind centrifugal)

It's most likely the centrifugal clutch not the gear change clutch.
