In a usable home application, how long does it take for you to need to replace the quartz sand? Is it every 3 months or 1 year?

Sand in self-cleaning filters should be changed no more than once a year or even less often (usually every two years). If the filter does not have a flushing system, then: the dirt capacity of the sand is about 700 mg /kg
