Although my days of being an 'auto-mechanic' are nearly a half a century behind me... and I do have a clip tool (somewhere), I had never seen or heard of this trick before. Just goes to show you that an old dog can learn new tricks! Great video!

I don't know why this video doesn't have more views. This worked amazingly well and saved me tons of time removing the door panels on my truck. For those of you wondering if this actually works - just try it! Took me all of 20 seconds and I got the clip to fly out the bottom exactly like they showed in slow-motion. After doing this I honestly don't know why anyone would ever buy the tool. Thank you so much!

I needed to replace the window crank watched a few videos. The're all different. Man am I glad I watched yours. Not only was it as easy as it looked, but now when I am with someone else with this issue, I can grab a rag and look like Mcgiver.

Thank you Sir Nathan!! Can't locate the tool (pliers) that I bought 60 years ago, so I'm another old dog happy to learn your new trick. Kudos.

Thanks. Neither the Haynes or Chilton books told me what to do other than to apply pressure to the trim and use a wire tool to remove the lock clip. I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. I banged and beat, cussed and threw fits...I was about to just cut a hole in the trim for the handle to come through...until I found your video. Saved me HOURS of time!!!

You are teaching old dog new trick. I have always been using the $14.99 for GM window cranks removal. This trick is beautiful! I have tinkering with cars and trucks since being boy, and yet never seen this before!. Thank you wise American mechanic guy!

So grateful for this vid!!!! First, just finding a vid on how to change out a manual window regulator on my Silverado 2001 was a b**ch! One showed how to use the tool to remove the handle, but not how to put it back on. Everyone has the blasted power windows these days... NO power windows!!!! (They will stop working if you ever happen to ditch it in water and you will have to bust out the window if it does. Had it towed once when alternator crapped out, the tow guy was so grateful I had manual windows he almost cried! Senior friend got trapped in 130 degree heat inside her Toyota when the battery died. Power locks and windows. Couldn't open doors or windows. Had to get her out through the trunk!) Power window motors in my dad's '96 Ford F150 cost $400 apiece (ripoff) to replace when the garage did it. (new manual regulator for my truck---under $30 and did it myself in 20 min!) Dad had to replace both his power window motors twice in 10 years, I have replaced only the driver side window regulator for the first time this year (part hadn't completely died yet, just really super hard to roll back up), and I have had my truck 19 years! All this power and electronic crap has ruined good trucks! Great video!!!

This worked PERFECT! I'm a chef by trade, so I have a ton of towels that I use...not red shop towels, so being a bit thicker made it slightly harder to get into the space, but once I did...bang! This is a life hack I'll never forget!

Replacing the door handle on my son's truck and this worked perfectly. You have to get the rag between the little plastic disk and the handle and I had to play around with the position (it ended up mine caught the pin with the handle facing forward) but regardless this works, thank you!!! Oh.. and the pin may not completely pop out like it did in the video, but if you hear a click, try to slide the crank gently and it'll work.
