This worked! Not blaming the method but my light colored carpet lightened in the area where I used the UV light - clearly I left it too long but the tumeric stain was REALLY bad. This lighter portion looks much better than golden yellow- thank you! Do you think I could darken that area with a little bit of diluted coffee or tea so it’s not so bright in that area I cleaned?

If the method is overused, it can remove color from carpet. It’s best to check the stain removal progress frequently and move and adjust the light frequently, especially when using a stronger UV light. Unfortunately this is the only way to remover set in turmeric stains, and if the stain is really bad (bright yellow), overuse may be needed to remove the stain fully. Sometimes if step one isn’t done thoroughly (spot removal), it can make step two take much more time, resulting in the potential for overuse. It is unlikely that coffee or tea will help. It might be best to hire a carpet repair person to add a dye to the carpet to try and darken the area.

@@TheStainGuide thank you. I tried the hot water and salt remedy and it did seem to help some. It was a really bad stain and lighter is better than gold! Thanks for all your help.

These are very helpful! I had a dehumidifier that leaked under a wooden rocking chair leg. The chair seeped a bit of reddish color into the low pile carpet. Any thoughts on a cleaning solution and/or technique to remove such a stain? I will try the peroxide and ammonia you suggested in another video but I’m not sure the stain is organic.

Hmm.. sounds like a really tough stain that could be caused by a few things. My first thought is that the natural tannin molecules from the wood have transferred from the wood to the carpet. If this is the case, I would try using the household ammonia and 6% hydrogen peroxide and letting it sit overnight. You can essentially copy the method in this coffee stain video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ3Qd32Oj6lqq9k. The household ammonia and 6% hydrogen peroxide might lighten it, but I don't think It will fully remove the stain. After, I would try using an advanced oxidation reaction like in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4qZpImOlqp7ptk. Both of these videos are oxidation reactions, which are electro chemistry. The advanced oxidation reaction is a higher voltage reaction, so it can remove more stains like ones caused by varieties of tannin or curcumin/turmeric molecules. I use advanced oxidation as stain removal method of last resort. This stain could also be caused by the wood finish, or possibly a rubber pad under the legs. If this is the cause of the stain, I don't think it can be removed. Good luck!

I have a tumeric stain - used you salon 20 and ammonia method but can’t get rid of it. Any other ideas? I clicked your link for the 80w light but it comes up as 2-100w lights.

The ammonia and hydrogen peroxide method won’t work for turmeric stains. Check out my turmeric stain removal video where I use hydrogen peroxide and UV light for turmeric stain removal. I’ll update the link soon. Thanks gor letting me know.

The salon 20 and ammonia helped a ton. I found a link 🔗 on a different video of yours that worked. Ordered. Just wondering if I should get a bigger one since the area is narrow and 2’ long (dog puked tumeric). You videos have been so helpful, thank you!!

The smaller light (10W) will work, it will just take you a little longer to get the stain out, as you’ll have to move the light along the length of the stain every few minutes. Generally turmeric stains from vomit are a little lighter in color (less curcumin pigments stuck in the carpet) and less time is needed under the UV light. If it was me, I’d buy the smaller one to try and save a little money.

@@TheStainGuide just received the light from your link. I ordered 2 of the 10w but 1-100w arrived. How far away does that one need to be?
