Accidents happen. We've all been out somewhere and accidentally had olive oil drop on our shoes at dinner or oil from our cars mysteriously end up on our leather shoes, purse, or leather bag. The worse thing you can do is nothing. The longer the oil has time to sit, the harder it will be to come out of the leather. Your best solution is to soak up as much oil as possible with a paper towel, rag or whatever is handy and then have a can of this Saphir Hussard Oil Remover at home. As soon as possible, spray those oil spots with this product and then let it sit. The sooner you can get this product on your leather, the better. It's been known to work miracles for us!

Happy to report that this stuff worked on my chromexcel leather boot with an oil stain that was about 3 weeks old (Would have treated sooner if it weren't for USPS delays). After applying 3 different times, letting the stuff sit on the boot for 2-8 hours each time, the oil was completely pulled out and left the boot and was close to its original color with some small light patches I was able to fix with Saphir's oiled leather cream. TRY THIS STUFF BEFORE YOU ABANDON ALL HOPE. Heath you are my hero for the month and I'm glad I caught this video in time!

I am a leather repair / care pro and this is good advice - especially about treating as soon as possible. One last step needed is to apply a moisturizer conditioner to restore those where you have removed them along with the unwanted oil. Note that some leathers will look lighter after treatment due to some dye moving out of the leather along with the oils.The product used is a fine silica powder, finer than plaster dust, so be sure to avoid breathing it in. If the oils do not come out with a couple of applications, take it to a leather care pro for a more intense version of the same process and a deep penetrating moisturizer to follow.

Guys I didn't have this product, and I was using it on faux suede leather. This is what I improvised & did using regular home items and it worked like a charm on stubborn oil stains! 🌻 1. My oil stains were old and dried up, so I used hand sanitizer (62% ethyl alcohol) to re-engage the oil (usually 100% isopropyl alcohol is used) and scrubbed gently with a toothbrush. 2. While the patch was wet, I sprinkled sufficient grey ash from my incense stick (Carbon has highly absorbent properties), you can make your own grey ash, but stay away from black charred ash on lighter fabric even though it'll likely wash off. I read that talcum powder (baby powder), or baking soda works as well! 3. The alcohol evaporates fairly quickly and the ash retains a visibly darker spots as it absorbs the oil from the area. 4. I followed along with the video and left it for 2 hours scattering the ash every 30 mins (for fresher ash to continue absorbing). 5. I dusted the ash off, and then put 1 part detergent into 1 part water, with 1 part hand sanitizer and toothbrush scrubbed the area. 6. I patted off the area with a dry towel and repeat with a few more detergent scrubs & pat drying taking away any grey ash and residue. 7. If it's fabric, or water safe, feel free to give it a long soak instead. 8. Oil stains completely gone!! 💯🌊

Hey all, I bought this product like a month ago. I was doubtful, but decided to try it because I had just gotten a really nice $200 brown leather jacket from Mexico and ruined it with oil/grease. It did actually work. It took like 3 times for it to remove the stain to the point where it really wasn't visible. I just left it overnight honestly. I'd recommend, at least for leather jackets. Thank you for the video sir!

So a friend dropped penut butter on my light chestnut boots and I tried everything but wouldn't come off, a mug mark right in the middle. Took it to a cobbler and he said the only way was painting it on a darker colour. Ended up getting water and detergent and really going at it, it took a lot of the original paint of the shoe but it also took out the stain. Got the Saphir show cream I bought with the pair and polished them twice and you can barely see the incident. Thank goodness.

Gonna try this on a veg tan art piece that a scout friend of mine has. It was hanging next to a camp trading post and one of the kids had a glow stick that ruptured and somehow found it's way on to the leather. Told her if this works it's getting sealed RIGHT after it dries.

I ordered from the link and used this on a full grain leather danner hiking boot. It left a dark ring around the stain almost like a bulbs eye pattern. Did I do something wrong? Maybe I sprayed too closely? Any way to fix the ring? I was making progress on the stain but the ring has made it look worse.

Just purchased the product. Seems to be helping. My question is: is it okay to reapply several times? I did one application and was able to remove some oil, but not all. I've done a couple more applications and each time it seems to get more of the oil out and the appearance of the shoes keeps improving. I'm not sure if I can go too far with this, any reason why I can't do a bunch of applications? Directions on the product are not in English. Appreciate any advice you might for me.

Not sure if you know and if anyone else in the comments can help: I managed to saturate a pair of leather gloves in tea (the Thermos opened in my rucksack and soaked everything). When I got home, I soaked the gloves in water then dried them on the washing-line. The following morning, the gloves were shrunken and crumpled up. I know I can just chuck them in the bin, but I’ve had these for over 15 years and feel I was remiss in my treatment of them. They were not terribly expensive, just £20 but I have never been a debauched consumer. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

What if it's not oil? How would you get out what looks like a cherry freeze stain. Got my son a new bomber style jacket (pigskin) for Christmas, and it looks like someone dripped strawberry freeze on the back of the jacket. There are several small red drip spots. He didn't notice it until he went to wear it again a couple of weeks later.

Haven't used it, but am thinking of purchasing a product like this, along with others. Silly question, but do these products expire? Am basically a sneaker guy, but do own some leather shoes which I wear on rare formal occasions. Mostly I wear my boots during winter time but then again not every day. So, having purchased a conditioner, cream, wax etc is there any possibility that after 7-8 months they won't work as good?

@Jeff 94: Not sure about the spray, but in case it's useful, something that has worked for me: Cover it in talc (though some other powders work also), put a cotton towel over the talc, go over the towel with a warm (not hot) iron. The warmth will loosen the oil and the talc and towel will absorb it. If you decide to use something like saddle soap that involves water, be sure to wet the whole shoe. If you wet just one spot, the water will leave a spot there (usually as a ring).
@MrDerpize

Thanks for the advice! I did however solve it in a different way. It was a little risky but I rubbed rubbing alcohol to the spot with a towel with hard pressure and it actually worked. I cleaned the whole shoes later with the suede schampoo from Saphir and finished it of with the colored renovateur spray. No spot left to be seen! 😊👌

@TrentonHeath
@TrentonHeath 5 жыл бұрын
KA S Our guess is no. We’ve never tried it on an oil stain that old. The powder in this product works best when there’s moisture that it can pull out. As we mentioned in the video, always try to at least blot up the oil spot ASAP and then use something like this product as quickly as you can. The longer the oil sits, the harder it is to pull it out.
