The nail polish remover certainly works and I tried this too. But since the label I'm trying to remove it black and the colour of the leather is pretty light and textured as well, the paint of the label is actually spreading and not getting cleaned completely. I feel that it might just spoil the entire material because of the black spots.

This works on smooth rexin bags only. For rough surface it's difficult to remove. Required to remove gifted bags and clocks in meetings or weddings.

Acetone is the base ingredient for nail polish remover. It’s too harsh on the material. It might be better to use Mineral Turpentine.

Unless is a very bad quality silk, using acetone will leave stains

Or you can just go to your hardware store to pick up a can of Acetone. That's what nail polish remover is made of most of the time

I have used acetone for such purposes multiple times but if often damages the material. That's way it should be used very very carefully.

Oil based inks soften with acetone, while water based inks soften with methylated spirit. Since both inks penetrate the cotton, some dye transfer would have resulted, so even if it did work on a shirt, it would require a huge quantity of spirit to avoid leaving a colored blob. A new shirt would probably work out cheaper.
