Thanks Esse. I read online to go in from the top and push down. Duh. You go in from the side and raise the brass colour tab to release.

Great video and tutorial, I have that exact window shade on my 2001 BMW E39 530i and my rear window regulator just broke with my window in the down position, I should receive my new rear window regulator in a few days from Amazon.
