lived in Colorado 27 years, then Kauai for 12 and, now S. Ca. for 16 and in construction for over 40 years - ALL these areas releasing rebar has been a pain in the a__. This was great! They didn't teach me that in Engr. College. A Great delivery as well - very well presented - a story that fits all together

Thanks a bunch of this tip. I didn't have a hook like that but my vice grips and a long pry bar did the trick. Leverage is a wonderful thing.

It worked! Thank you soooooo much. From a girl ;) in Canada.

Best method I've seen on KZbin. I need to move a large shelter which is anchored by 6 re-bar stakes that are tough as whiz to move. I am going to try your method tomorrow. Confidence is high.

I got two, 5’ in the ground that need to come out. Unfortunately I lost my apple tree anyway to a storm, so the 5’ that’s sticking out above the ground look…ridiculous, lol. A big thank you to you!

Worked like a charm for me. Thank you for saving me a trip to Home Depot to buy a stake puller. :-)

I need to pull out a 3/4 " galvanized pipe out. It was used as a ground for a lightning rod. You gave me an idea! Thanks!

a) Use a chain if u dont have a hook b) set up the leverage so u step on it down instead of breaking ur back pulling up

That was very simple. Thank you.

Thank you for posting this! I knew it was a matter of leverage but I couldn’t think of how to get a good grip… I tried the 2x4 with a vice grip but it only worked on a few… (there’s only about 60 more to pull!… ~10 years ago my dad insisted they were necessary to support the 12’x1’ boards that make the long sides of my new raised beds… they’re not even touching the boards anymore.) I’ll be running over to the Big Store tomorrow to get one of those hooks… God Bless!

I went to my local HD to look for the hook and I couldn’t find it but I did find something similar enough that I thought it was worth trying out and it worked just the same… the Everbilt 0.25” galvanized Hook and Eye Swivel, $7.97

Now I‘ll be able to cut some old rubber pond liner to fit snugly between my raised vegetable beds as a long lasting weed block. I know, it’s not water permeable, but no weeds are making it through that. And this will be much safer for my elderly parents… no rusty rebars to catch toes or fall on, and dense rubber liner will be a softer landing than the pavers I was considering.

Try just kicking the damned things. Works at Burning man.

I have a slope in my back yard that has a lot of rebar sticking out of the ground. I believe it formerly held down railroad ties I tried this method but to no avail. I should mention that the ground that the rebar is in is decomposed granite,

What is that 8 shape type of hook call and where can I get it?
@GaryGonzalez227 жыл бұрын
Jay, it looks like a snap hook. Here is a link to one sold by Home Depot. However, make sure you get snap hook that is large enough and strong enough. www.homedepot.com/p/Crown-Bolt-3-4-in-x-3-7-8-in-Stainless-Steel-Fixed-Snap-Hook-64054/203001513
