If you guys saw the first video on the Tahoe you know that the roof rack (or so I think) was leaking onto the headliner. I decided that the tahoe looks better without the roof rack so I removed it. The problem when you remove it is that you need to plug the holes where it bolted down. In this video I show you how to removed the roof rack, Paint correct the areas where it bolts down, and how to plug the holes in the top.

2007 Yukon Denali/escalade with the chrome trim cover is different. Remove the 2 front and 2 rear screws with a 25 torx bit. There is still 1 torx screw ( with rubber spacer) in the center of each rail you can't remove, but there is a large opening that is facing towards the front of the screw/suv. The screw actually slides into place when installing and reinstalling the rail. To remove the rail, grab both edges of the front and back of the rail between the roof sheet metal and rubber and shift the whole rail back about 2 inches, then it'll release and lift up. Haven't seen this done on KZbin yet. Total screws removed are 10 screws. Best of luck!

I like it I have a dark gray (magna steel?) Tahoe 2011 and been debating taking rack off mine since I have never or will ever haul anything that I can’t see to well. You did a great job and have inspired me to do mine just need to rewind on the bolts used my friend great job.👍🏼

I used stainless steel screws on my white 2011 Suburban. I also used black screws painted black on my charcoal 2003 Tahoe. I like your method for other colors though.

You should do a 5/7 drop on 24s What you thick about cowl hood on the Tahoe with a zl1 air vent

I used metric set screws with thread sealant so all that shows are the factory riv-nuts. Used Olympic White touch up paint.

You should go with the LTZ polished wheels. I’m sure that dropped with those wheels it would look real nice. Good job on the roof rack delete. That roof rack always makes the Tahoe look higher.

This is common area for rust on older Tahoes and suburbans. The rack vibrates and grinds paint off. Bolts rust out also.

Looks great but I do have to comment on the Teflon tape, you were wrapping the bolt threads in the wrong Direction. The Teflon tape will want to try and unwrap as you tighten.

@@TWAMotorsports I actually had the tool in the garage from a previous project and ended up redoing it. Pulled the bolts back out and retightened all of the nutserts. I also used red bolts from dressupbolts that were a pretty good match to the Chevy maroon.

Always wrap Teflon up the threads, never down… threading down will increase likelihood to displace the Teflon threading in. I plumbed miles of irrigation and that’s the first thing you learn NOT TO DO.

I removed mine and have a ton less of road noise its like the thing was causing a wind sound now that its gone no sound i used push pins on my silver tahoe and ypu can see the tiny black dots but its much better than a giant roof rack imo
