Hey buddy! Found your video how to remove rust! Been following yours and all the guys motorcycle videos. I was surprised to find this one from you! I’m building a Ram 2500 and moving to Michigan from North Carolina. Trying to prep the truck and protect it from future rust. Got the Florida truck with zero rust, just wanted to clean minor surface rust of the wheel Huns because I just got new rims and 37” tires and did not want to install center caps. Thanks.

I did this to my 2002 4runner slowly over the course of the summer. I "painted" the whole frame with RP342 Black (cosmoline). I recommend you also spray the inside of the frame with fluid film to prevent rust that may form undetected until it's too late.

------------------------- Quick-Glo isn't available . It's a mystery. -Quick Glo has disappeared. No one can contact the owner's that made a famous ad with Jay Leno. Inventories have disappeared in the U.S. ,U.K. and Australia. Does anyone know for sure what is happening? I ordered a large supply months ago from their Website which is still running. I rec'd nothing not even an email confirming my order. Quick-glo is the best for chrome and rust and as a preventative. If you know what has happened; please please report on your findings.

Hey, that's exactly what im planning on doing..Did you put RP342 Black over the rust converted layer, or did you put something in between

Broke my heart to see you spray it with a rubberized coating after all that hard work. Thats going to trap moisture and make it 5x worse.

The rust reformer is a very good step. You might want to reconsider using the rubberized undercoating it really doesn't work well and can actually speed up the rust. Another area you need to be concentrate on is inside the frame. The FJC rots from the inside out in many places.
@HOLYSHIFT5 жыл бұрын
J Jack Next step for me will be to insert spray oil/ grease into the frame through holes spread around the chassis
@jjack68965 жыл бұрын
I AM SANDY my suggestion would be to use fluid film. You can get it reasonably through a discount auto parts store. You’re best to order the 360% spray can wand kit with a few cans through Amazon.

Andy C for “preventative” rust treatment yes. There’s the optional black gloss paint for final chassis coverage but only if you prep the prior stages very well. Look up Corroseal Water-Based Rust Converter Metal Primer.

Good stuff... I found Corroseal to just be okay. The protective layer it creates isn't too durable. Avoid using rubber undercoating. It can trap moisture and cause even worse rust. The best option I found is Eastwood's rubberized rust encapsulator. Best of both worlds and easy to apply 💪🏼
@48Ballen2 жыл бұрын
Lots of great work but..... The rust on these vehicles is inside the frame and unless you provide more drain holes and use an oil based product, the rust will continue and the frame will rot. Second, the use of a rubberized undercoat is a really bad idea because the moisture will get under it, be locked in and really rot the frame. I'm guessing by now the frame needs massive metal work.

Why not use vinegar straight for the rust converter? After that I would spray a lanolin based oil undercoat. No need to prime or paint. Lanolin is sheep fat. Not harmful to the environment. Save your money on buying Corroseal.

a cheap needle scaler is waaay faster and does a better job, rust converters have acid and thick coatings do promote rust by trapping moisture and rust converter acid. get metal to clean brown [no scale] at least then coat with cold galvanising compound, lots of it, multiple wet thick coats. it creates an electro chemical condition where the zinc primer corrodes off, not the steel. plus it doesn't flake off or trap moisture so when you start to see brown through the primer simply recoat. easiest way ive found to protect undercarriage here in maine
