I have a much better solution. I had the exact same problem as you. All I did is that I heated the screw really well using a lit candle and then simply pulled out the screw. The heat slightly melted the plastic, softened it, and the whole thing came out like butter. Easy peasy lemon squeezy 😁

Awesome! Just tried it. Didn't have alot of tools. Just used a candle and a 4" crescent wrench and Voilà! Out in less than 5 minutes from my shower tile. Thanks a Bunch!!!!!

I've heard not to use spit to smooth silicone as the bacteria present in the saliva means it's likely to go bad/mouldy quicker

It would be helpful if they actually made products that lived up to what they claim "Selleys will not go mouldy says the company" yeh right had plenty of selleys products go mouldy!

I always check them every so often now to make sure they don't get to that point where its so difficult and could damage the tiles through removal or rust stains.

You could use a screw made from stainless steel won’t rust at all…I have a wood fence I just took down it was up over 25 years the screws are like brand new still.

Tried it, in the end just drilled another hole on top of the existing rusted screw to install a new screw :S

How to remove rusty screw from toilet tank?
@itprosetal5 жыл бұрын
I've had to do that twice. Best for me was to take the whole toilet out, bring it out on the grass and use a hacksaw to cut those pesky boogers. Worked like a charm. Not as much work as it sounds. Be careful though not to crack the bowl or the tank. Use cushiony support. I got lucky the second time and was able to separate the bowl and the tank but still had the rusted screws. Hacksaw worked great.

Wear goggles mate. A friend of mine almost lost vision in one eye. He was lucky, but he always wears goggles now. It's not worth the risk.
