Garden hose and a kiddie pool will work too. I also had an idea for a spot cleaning tool. You know those water sprayer toys used in pools, where you pull the water in like a syringe then squirt it back out. That would work perfectly in a tank.

Great idea!! I know a lot of shrimp keepers use turkey basters or pipettes to remove waste. Same concept but on a small scale.

Great video,thank you. I imagine trying to move a larger tank with anything in it would stress the tank itself? I foolishly layered white sand over my soil substrate bottom in my 90 gallon Rainbowfish tank. It looked great for a few months. Now it looks awful,so hoping I can use this method to remove as much of the sand as possible. Would you recommend waiting until I have moved the fish,in case anything gets released into the water? Really enjoy your laid back personality. Watching videos with people going over the top try and get more viewers with loud annoying commentary turns me off. Thanks for keeping it light,entertaining and informative.👍🏻

No problem! Glad you liked it. Removing the substrate can cause an ammonia spike so if you do it with fish in there just make sure you are monitoring the water quality the first few days after. Using a liquid bacteria after can help too. Seachem stability is a good one I like.

I'll be doing this tomorrow, had put in sand in a tank for an axolotl, them found out my axolotl is actually a tiger salamander larvae, wasn't sure on what to do, this will help

I got 150lbs of white sand in my 200 gallon and it would be a pain in the ass to take ALL out now. Since I don't want a single piece of sand on my spotless black.

I just use a large bowl get out as much sand as possible and dump it into a bucket. Then empty the tank and shop vac the rest this was takes to long.
