I like that you are careful and precise in your methods. That's how one receives the best results. Some others on KZbin used the exact same materials, but they seemed to rush the process. Their results were not satisfactory in my opinion. Good job, Leonardo!

Thanks for the tip, I managed to get a couple of scratches on the brushed side of my watch case from 320 emery paper I was using to smooth some sharp edges from a bracelet. Silly me, I didn't remove the bracelet first. Anyway just used the scotch pad on the watch and it is now almost perfect. I think I will do a little more when I have time as the pad is a little worn out, the scratches are not deep, so a new pad should finish the job. Thanks again!

Thanks for this. I’ve wanted a Tudor for quite some time now. The large blank surfaces of the thick housing of the Tudor really does get scratched. Not to take away anything from the watch, just something to consider.

I made mistake of using a polishing cloth on my brushed links on my seiko 5kx and it actually stripped off a layer of stainless steel. I will never make that mistake again and I will only ever use a polishing cloth on polished surface (e.g on polished centre links) and I'll be sure to use a more abrasive cloth on the brushed surfaces. It was such a rookie mistake because it was my first time ever polishing a watch so I had no idea I shouldn't have used a polishing cloth to remove scratches from brushed surfaces/links. Thankfully the damage done wasn't catastrophic but you can see black lines underneath the steel from where some layers were stripped away from the effects of the polishing cloth. Lesson learned the hard way!

Amazing how well the Brillo pad trick worked on my clasp, which I'd managed to get a weirdly broad zig-zag scratch after just a couple of weeks... it's not gone completely but it's no longer immediately noticeable. Thanks!

Best DIY/instructional video I’ve seen in awhile! Succinct, methodical, and straight-to-the-point… but more importantly honest. The sort that one can expect - and can’t expect anything less of - from a German. From a former watch industry professional, fellow enthusiast, collector, and German as well!

Great video firstly and even though I’m a Tudor collector I have many other watches old and new but I think steinhart is a great watch for the price point. I have the Pepsi ocean gmt, Titanium gmt and ocean one vintage gmt with all of them being great time keepers. Only trouble I had was the Pepsi bezel is stiff to start but I promise it will free up having sent one back and having paid import duties twice. Another great brand is axios and zelos, phoibos and mmi watches to name a few micro brands. Keep collecting people and keep videos coming 👌🏻👍🏻

A citizen came across my desk and I was impressed that with its scratches and imperfections it still maintained an attractive profile. Then a Movado came across my desk and I was very unimpressed with how dingy its appearance was although it was less worn than the citizen. I think the dominant colors play a big part. The citizen was a muted blue while the Movado was onyx black. That black shows a myriad of imperfections, and in a negative light.

@baze3SC Жыл бұрын
Titanium forms a natural oxide layer. It's a softer metal that scratches more easily but micro scratches will be less visible once that layer forms. No point in polishing the watch repeatedly, those hairline scratches are unavoidable and it destroys the vintage value of the watch (if it's a valuable piece).
@msbrownbeast Жыл бұрын
That all depends on the watch brand. Some manufacturers (e.g. Citizen) treat their titanium cases with a very hard coating that is highly resistant to scratches. Or other brands that may use a special titanium alloy for extra hardness.
@PETERJOHN101 Жыл бұрын
I have a titanium watch and it's why I stay away from them now. They look dull compared to SS and I just don't see the upside.

FYI - Don’t press too hard with the cape cod polish cloth, the watch surface will probably get pitted…I managed to achieve this with my heavy handed polishing technique on my Rolex.

Did you use a brillo pad with cleaning liquid, or you brushed the watch with a dry brillo pad?

@@barbogarin You need to make sure you are brushing in only one direction each time for the stainless steel brushed portions. If you notice, brushed steel has lines in it brand new. You can get this look back but need to make sure you keep the bracelet stationary and follow the same direction.
