Remember boys and girls, mix 50/50, acetone and transmission fluid to make Panther Piss. It is better than anything else to remove stuck rusted bolts and screws. Let it sit and do its work.

After watching the seat removal video I attempted to remove the passenger side seat in my 99 TJ. The video, at 52 to 55 seconds, shows the seat being moved forward to the point where the seat front drops down and goes slightly under the dash. I followed directions but when I pushed my seat forward it would not go anywhere near the dash. In fact, it stopped (a hard stop) with the front edge of the seat still about 5 inches back from the dash giving me zero access to the two bolts at the rear of the mount. The flip-down plates were accessible but still far from the hex head and star socket bolts. I had to literally disassemble the entire slide mechanism to get to those two bolts to get the seat out. I see in the comments section that many others have had a similar experience accessing those two rear bolts.

Did you pull the lever that tilts the seat forward or just the front bar to slide it?

My mistake: in my previous comment I said the seat would not move forward enough to access the two rear mounting bolts. Well I watched the video again and noticed after Andy moved the seat forward, he then LIFTED the rear of the seat UPWARD; that allowed the seat to slide further forward exposing the rear bolts. Although the lifting was not mentioned verbally, it was shown in the video---I guess just missed it. Sorry, Andy, my mistake. The driver's side came out 1-2-3.

Thanks Andy....I'm about to add riser spacers on my front seats......that video just made the job that bit more approachable..and I can use if I get stuck...4 bolts should be pretty easy...got the pen. oil and the T 50....just got to get to it...

My passenger seat was busted and wouldn’t move up and forward to access the back bolts. There’s a lever on both sides (left and right) that you have to push down. When both are pushed down all the way you’ll have to move the seat with your head or have someone push it forward with you. I had to both my arms through the front and back of the seat to reach both levers at the same time

For all those wondering why theirs doesn’t go forward on my 97 Tj there was another latch you need to press down underneath the seat to get it to slide forward, hope I save you frustration

I am having trouble with the rear bolts for the front seats on my 2001 TJ. I have the same plastic hinged flap but there is nothing behind it. The metal seat bracket does not extend back that far. I'm thinking the seats from this model have attached studs that go through the body and nuts underneath that must be removed.

I need to correct myself. The rear inside bolt (T50 in your vid) on a 97 is actually a 16mm and not a 13mm as I previously stated. As an added bonus, when the previous owner cross threads the rear bolts on the driver's side into oblivion, they can easily be drilled out after they snap off on you, and bolted through with a 3/8" bolt, nut, and a couple washers. The passenger side is not as accessible.

Can you put jeeps 2018 seats in a 1993 jeep wrangler
@PhillipsVision Жыл бұрын
I don’t think so unless you modify the frame of the 2018 seat. I believe they are wider. You may still have issues with it crossing into the center console area as well.

Try hitting the hinge mechanism on the seat frame with WD40, that might get it working so you can move it for access.

The jeep i have is my moms who passed away 12/2019.. I have a Had it since then, I am getting to work on it more and fix it up! Well its NASTYYY, from being under the carport for all that time! I take it out and drive it every now and then. Get the oil changed and stuff! But when I tried to do this earlier the front seat do not have bolts like that in the back of the seat! I got the front two off but I can't find any in the back! Would these maybe be some after market ones??
