How to remove soak-off gel ---Gelish, Shellac or Gelcolor by OPI

This is how I remove soak-off gels nails. This works on all products like Gelish, Shellac, Gelcolor by OPI. This also works on removing glitter polish.
You will need.
Acetone
Foil
Cotton balls or cotton pads
Nail file & nail buffer
Cuticle pusher or orange wood stick.
Cuticle oil.

Great video as usual. I found that after wrapping all fingers in foil, putting them in a plastic bag and between a heating pad speeds the process up more and there is hardly any need for scraping for buffing. The heat seems to accelerate the process and makes it easier on your natural nails.

I always use pure acetone, if you used a polish remover with acetone the strength may not be as strong and then take much longer, it could work you make just have to allow a longer time for full removal

Instead of wrapping, can you also just put acetone in a bowl and let your hands sit in the bowl for 10 minutes? Or is the foil wrap necessary? Thanks!! Your videos are very helpful! I'm just getting into gelish manicures and ordered some more colors tonight based on your swatches!

Muziklova... placing your nails fully in acetone will make them really dry, all the surrounding skin aswell. You can do it that way, but have to take into account, how dry it will make your skin. Doing it this way is just as effective :) Great vid btw,....shame the little finger was being difficult with removal, always the way, when trying to show these things. But just use a block to remove, not a file :) But thought this video was done really well

Can you please help me with this question? When doing these at home...do you need to completely remove the whole manicure as you did here, before changing colors of gel manicures? Or is there an easier way to "fill them" in with a new color after only removing the old color you had on here? Like you had on red and say you wanted to go to light pink. Is there another way to change colors, or must the whole manicure be removed as you demonstrated here? Thanks so much!!

When performing a gelmanicure at home or a salon, you remove all the product. You don't fill them in, like an acrylic enhancement. thanks so much for watching my video

Could you use oil based nail polish remover? I accidentally used it instead of cleanser on my gel nails an it made a hole in them. So I was wondering if it would remove them?

Technically people remove it at the salon and apply a new coat of gel the exact same day, so I don't think you should wait.. But who knows :/

Will this also take off acrylic nails. I just got acrylics put on and they did a really bad job painting on the shellac so I just wanted to take that off.

It will but will take a long time. I prefer to soak nails in pure acetone. It will take 1/2hr-1 hour. It's better than pulling them off. Thanks for watching

If you had acrylics done with gel polish colour, you can file the polish off, buff, then paint them again You don't need to remove the acrylic, You can remove acrylic at home, but honestly it takes a while, but an experienced nail tech can file them thinner with a drill then use the acetone To remove the remainder. Another option is to file the length down and thin the top down avoiding the natural nail and let them grown out naturally If this is the option you choose make sure you keep them shortish and apply base coat before colour also make sure you gently buff off any lifting avoid filing your nail bed. Hope this helps Ps when choosing a nail tech get them to do one nail as see if you like the was they do them

Are you a licensed nail tec, I question that you are filing a shellac nail as it can soak off completely, Gelishish just needs the top coat buffed, OPI ColorGel is the correct name of the product and it must be filed 25% off than soaked off where did you get your info from? They should also be using a conditioning remover such as CND Nourishing remover which is rich with Macadamia Nut oil and English Cucumber oil. Regular Acetone strips the nail, dries out the skin and over time can develop an allergic reaction due to over exposure.

@ttlcalittleangel2007 if your nails are to sensitive and thin, gel nails might not work for you. Definetly soak them for a little longer but you can gently use orangewood stick to help remove product. I will be doing a video in the future that shows how I help clients with weak nails. Each Brand is a system and has a unique application and removal for best results, the integrity of your nail to remain the same. etc.. Nail tecs who care about there clients have a license for a reason it supports there education, experience, expertise, etc.. I would never recommend home removals by a client for anything other than nail polish. If it is professional put on, requires a current license to purchase it should be removed by a professional to avoid short term and long term damage.

Yeah but most professionals charge almost half the price of a manicure just for removals. If they wouldn't make it so expensive to remove, more people would be doing it there instead of at home.

Uhh I hope you don't do this very often. If so, you should probably stop, because aceton is really bad for your skin. It doesn't matter if you use oil after. By getting it on your skin you are risking skin cancer, so please don't do this too often in such long periods (aka 15min) :-)

Yes. It ruined my nail plate after two weeks of use. Just buy a gel polish and top coat which is safer and it don't ruin nails
