Hi will you need to rocode the unit after disconnecting?

You won't need to recode the unit but it may ask you for the Radio Pin Code when you next turn it on.

Sometimes it’s in your user manual, if not you’ll need to jot down the serial number of the unit and go to VW and ask for it
