I received an overlocker for my birthday yesterday, you can imagine how excited i was to use it lol. My overlocker is the Janome 9300DX, my husband picked it and he did a pretty good job.. Hope your all well

So surprising how little difference there is in those machines. I suppose what was the upper end of the market, technology wise, Is now the basic model but using cheaper components. That colour change is astonishing!

I have this same exact machine. I’m using 4 threads sewing around a single thickness of flannel and it gathers slightly. I’m trying to get it to stop gathering. The differential feed is on normal and I’ve adjusted the tension dials so the stitch looks right but it still gathers slightly. I haven’t tried adjusting the presser foot pressure yet, I was going to try that to see if that helps. I think I bought this machine in 1984. Close to $500 at the time. I have taken it apart before to clean and oil, I think I will do it again soon. Any help with the reason it is gathering would be helpful thanks for showing how to open up this machine and for making these videos.

First and foremost, thank you for your video. It's filled with lots of information and helpful advice. I have a similar machine, and like yours it has yellowed considerably. I think it is due to light exposure. I collect resin dolls, and they also become yellowish when exposed to light. With regards to the wheel atop the pressure bar, does yours move from 1 to 4? Mine stops at 3. I had it serviced about ten years ago and I feel it hasn't been the same since. Recently I used it for a few hours and suddenly it started sizing. Eventually I noticed it was something to do with the pressure bar, but when I opened there was no friction between the bar and any part of the mechanism. It's just weird.

I have pfaff hobbylock 799 and it hasn't byen used for 15 years. Can you make a video og how i Can open and oil it. The needle is also troubling and making noise

Yes my machine was made in Japan too. It was a heck of a job taking it apart to clean and oil.🙄

I have the 4870 computerised hobby lock. I opened it up and cleaned and oiled it however when I tried to put it all back together it would not sew . The message is that the looper cover is open even though I had put it on and it is closed. Can you help me with this please. It's a great machine and sews well. Thanks

No problem, you take the side cover off and try closing the looper cover. It’s very easy, one screw. But well done 👏🏽 Good effort. If it’s not sewing (chaining) you may have messed up the timing, have a look at the timing video

@@AbisDen Thank you. My son said that since it's a computerized machine the door might have a sensor connection. I'm going to do what you said and hopefully I can figure out what is wrong. I'm just a bit hesitant at the moment as my machine is a bit different to take apart the power switch and the pedal connection are both on the side of the serger.👍❤️

Yes. The Singer ports are the same size but just check the power
