I’m looking at buying a 1960 IH utility backhoe. I believe it’s a 460 utility with a cab….. The hydraulics are soft I’m wondering if a tractor requires a larger pump to run a loader and backhoe or does it Use the same stock unit?

Hello. Got a ? About a Farmall 460 tractor a friend of mine has. Due to some health reasons, they asked me to do an oil change for their 460 tractor. Changing the oil I can do but since I haven't worked on their tractor, I was wondering if you could answer some ?s I have... (1) where is the oil filter located? (2) what does this oil filter actually look like? Is it similar to oil filters on a vehicle or is it completely different? (3) what kind of oil can I use I'm it? Is Rotella 15w40 safe to use? I have good unused Rotella 15w40 left over so I was wondering if I could just use that? (4) about how many quarts should their tractor take before and after running it for a few minutes? Thank-you ahead of time to anyone who replies.

Ok, so the oil filter is a canister type filter and not your familiar screw on filter like is on modern engines. the housing sits upside down on the left hand (drivers side) of the engine. As for the oil, I always stick to the original International recommendations of a low ash oil, the one I can usually find the easiest locally that meets the low ash requirements without paying out the ass at the Case dealer is Valvoline Premium Blue 15w 40 conventional oil. According to my manual the engine should hold 9 quarts of oil whether it is a gasoline or diesel powered engine

Yes I was. Took a withdrawal from my plumbing services to pursue a career in agriculture

I don't think they can. I was unable to find any parts kits online for a rebuild
