How to Remove Water Spots and Apply Sealant to Your Glass Shower Door

Glass shower doors are an elegant addition to any bathroom, but over time, water spots can dull their appearance. Step 2: Clean the Glass: Start by cleaning the glass thoroughly using a glass cleaner or a mixture of dish soap and water. This will remove any surface dirt and grime, making it easier to tackle the water spots.
Step 3: Remove Water Spots: For stubborn water spots, use a water spot remover and apply it to the affected areas. Gently scrub the spots using a microfiber towel, then rinse with water. Careful to protect surrounding surfaces as water spot removers can damage delicate surfaces.
Step 4: Polish the Glass: If the water spots persist, you may need to use a glass polish to restore the clarity of the glass. Apply a small amount of polish to a clean microfiber cloth and buff the glass in circular motions until the spots are no longer visible.
Step 5: Prep the glass: Use the sealant surface prep to remove any residue from the previous cleaning steps. This is an important step to ensure good long lasting results from the sealant.
Step 6: Apply Sealant: Once the glass is clean and free of water spots, it's time to apply a sealant to protect it from future damage. You'll need to apply the sealant evenly to the entire surface of the glass using a clean microfiber towel. Buff to a slick glossy shine. Allow the sealant to cure for 24hrs before using the shower.
Step 7: Maintenance: To keep your glass shower door looking its best, regularly clean it with a mild glass cleaner and wipe it dry after each use. This will help prevent water spots from forming and extend the life of the sealant. Reapply the sealant as needed. A quick touch up will keep it going for a long time. If I had glass I'd definitely take these steps to ensure they would stay crystal clear. In regards to glass towels you should try a lower pile towel such as the TRC Diamond Weave. I find towels such as the Dry Me a River to be too cumbersome in addressing window cleaning. I've recently picked up the Glass Genie from LM and I'll let you know my results.

Works terrific on shower doors. We squeegee after each use, and it's even easier to do now. I'm a reasonably good car detailer (as a hobby), but was frustrated that I could never make my windshield (especially the inside) look perfectly clean. This process/products works equally well on car glass. Love the videos that you do. One of my favorite channels, as it's easy to tell when you review a product and it's not the best.

I've done this for years. Nice to see someone else doing the same thing. I would say, water spots are attacked in 2 ways. What you've listed here is half the battle. The other half is getting the hard mineral deposits out of your water. A 2 stage water filtration system on the main waterline into your home will also help limit the possibility of spots.

Great job and I watching your videos because its therapeutic. Advice on the following would be greatly appreciated . I come to the conclusion that I'm a little bit too old to start an auto detailing business and then I saw some other detailers that only specialize in coatings . I thought about only specializing in glass coatings but the idea was a bit too narrow . Then I thought about shower doors such as yours spa glass , and patio glass doors. Short cut - use mineral spirits and then ceramic coating. The mineral spirits (any paint store has it) and then the ceramic coating.

While all of these waxes, sealants and coatings will lengthen the time in between cleaning it will still spot with Hard Water and even lower TDS tap water. The key to true spotless glass is the “Rinse”! It doesn’t matter how much you coat glass and actually any surface that you want to maintain as Spotless because the coating is worn down by hard water, pollution, chemicals and physical neglect. Deionized Water on regular plain glass and even a black car out in bright sunlight can be rinsed with Deionized Water and it will leave zero spots!

Thanks for making this video. Question on your Microfiber towels - you have two listed in the description but a little confused on which one to use in which order. I followed along with the color you use in the mirror but couldn’t follow when you went to the shower door since it looked like you used the same color. I like using Turtle Wax Seal 'N Shine as my sealant. I will use IPA & distilled water or white vinegar & distilled water after it has been cleaned with the scrubbing bubbles spray cleaner. For outside windows where you constantly look through, I will repeat same process...GREAT Minds think alike, thinking outside the box!

Steam, heat in general, are detail sealants worst nightmare. While it’s not pointless to use them in a shower, there are specific tile products that do a better job. Sealants don’t hurt, however. 😊😊😊

I am not a chemist or doctor but I am not worried about it. It cures and does not fume up or smell after it cures. Wipe down glass regularly and reapply sealant as needed. If you are able to keep water spots from getting in there the reapplying is a breeze. 2-3 mins tops. Hope that helps.

#1. Cleaning your shower every other week is the best way to avoid build up. #2. White distilled vinegar goes a long way (via wipe down) to prevent build up. #3. Softening your water also helps. If you’re not in to any of the 3 above, well… I suppose cleaning and polishing works too. Hahaha, whatever it takes to keep it fresh. 😊😊😊

It is extremely easy to apply and is extremely tough. Its priced fair for what it is. i would not worry about removing it I would just wait until the hydrophobic properties have died off then reapply. If there are any spots use a towel with polish on it and remove them. Don't let it get bad before doing these steps and it will be an easy task. Thanks for watching

It can last months if it not getting hammered every day. If it’s directly in the water and being wiped down it should still hang on for a month or 2. I would reapply whenever I do a thorough cleaning of the glass. Upkeep is the key to keeping it nice. Hope that helps.
