@@EcoAcid They're specialized for hearing aids and dry out within weeks after the seal is broken whether you use it or not. From what I've read they seem to be the most power dense batteries which you can easily buy.

I HIGHLY discourage removing any material from under the skates, for any mouse, ever. A lot of mice already won't have a flat skate surface if you press down on them and only make partial contact, this is super true for series like the G502 which make extremely little contact. Any improved performance you get from that tiny bit of weight removed will be more than lost by the loss in glide/contact. In fact that's why the stock feet on a G502 (original all the way up to the Lightspeed) are nearly unusable, it's the shell itself not allowing the feet to be flat, if you actually find out how much contact it makes out of the box you'll realize it's almost none, and no matter how much you sand it down it will never make full contact. If parts under it were removed that problem would be made worse. I had an Orochi v2 and it also suffered a lot from this, it made very poor contact but due to having much superior skates and being significantly lighter than something like a G502, it wasn't a complete handicap.

In order to put pressure on the hole under the stake it would need force that isn't applied from the top. When applied from the top that force is transferred to the edges so the skate shouldn't flex. G502 has very thin skates so on this it's format I wouldn't do it. Comes down to the surface you are also running on and the force you would apply to the top of the mouse. I wouldn't recommend doing this mod unless you were willing to accept some compromise.

This looks amazing, insane weight reduction...if it was mine I would let it like around 60g and it would make my day, I know you went extreme mode in this case for max reduction possible. Mice without holes also ultralight its the best of both worlds. Keep it up!

I'm just wondering, before I commit to modding or reducing the weight of my mouse, how is the actual performance of the 46g Orochi? does it still mouse as consistently around the pad? np glad you enjoyed it. The mouse glides well, in fact its to light for me.. there is certainly some flex compared to stock but there isn't much left of it lol.. the LR44 battery i'm testing to see how long it lasts and then i'm testing a PR44 or 675 which has more life.

I didn't do as much base chopping because I personally wanted it to look as stock as possible but still managed to get down to 51 grams which is good enough for me. Thanks for the instructions mate!

9:12 I was thinking, could you remove both magnets and glue the top shell shut. But cut the top shell so you still have access to replace the lr44 battery? (I'm not sure if you could even replace the battery with tweezers incase your fingers wouldn't fit.)

@@Beardedbob Try it on two or three different mousepads , sometimes the weight seems a bit as a struggle for some micepads. Maybe because of the Skates that being so thin. I cant play it on my odin infinity well but on the otherhand on the Gp4 or some Cordura pads it seems fine. And the Glide seems smoother and consistent. But im Happy that you make it because im Scared to take it apart because of the Switches and the Mechanism, it would be sad when I destroy it :'D

How did you manage the LR44 voltage drop during it's discharge profile? Unlike the g305, on the orochi it seems to require a higher voltage to behave consistently throughout the life of the cell? This was even more apparent with an a675 cell.

looks like taking out the base like you did (around the sensor and power switch) almost did nothing to the weight. .5 of a gram if your lucky. does not seem worth it at all, especially being that close and supporting the sensor.

@@lostboy2637 i don’t think its possible to do much on the Starlight-12. Hell they even hold the PCB in with glue to cut out screw weight. So probably all he could do is a battery mod. Maybe take off the usb port?

@@Beardedbob Honestly it feels on another level, you could take the most premium feeling plastic mouse and it feels cheap next to the starlight, the coating is great as well. I've bought most top mice over the past year or two and this is finally my end game.
