Great video! Watched several times in preparation to installing the Stealth Hitch. My Model 3 was delivered November, 2018, and there are 6 additional 10mm bolts holding the bumper fascia to the gravel guard, in addition to the clips you mention. When I pulled the top of the bumper fascia away from the body clips, the bolts were plain to see and needed to be removed to separate the two sections.
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
That is correct if you want to remove the guard from the bumper. In this, we end up not doing that and just keeping it connected.
@jmb43703 жыл бұрын
@@tesbros Makes perfect sense! In installing the Stealth Hitch, I needed to remove the gravel guard to be able to easily cut an opening that didn't exist on my 2018 Model 3. Newer versions have a removable panel already part of the gravel guard, or you can just buy a new gravel guard if you don't want to do the cutting and fussing with attaching the cut piece back in place when the receiver is not plugged in.

You saved my trips to Tesla Service center!! Thank you so much... The tough part is attaching the Bumper back, I missed to remove all other three screws, and it was nightmare without this video... min 4:10 to 5:15 is too important... and also "we need to install the bumper back in the reverse order of removing it"

Good video. After DIY'inga hitch install this morning, there are two things that are a PITA. (1) Removing the taillights. I cracked one and I suggest assuring you only pull STRAIGHT back. A slight angle will break the lights. (2) Reinstalling the bumper. I suggest clipping the middle part first then working carefully towards the sides. 4hrs by myself.
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
Thank ya! We do say that in the video to pull straight back. They’re easy to break. And for reinstalling, very true. We explain it further on how to best align in our model y rear bumper removal. Glad it was a successful project!

Very good video, thank you. The bumper is not well aligned on my model 3. The trunk touches on the left side and the gap is about 2.5 to 3mm on the right. Do you think it is possible to adjust the position through a removal and reinstallation of the bumper? Thanks for you advice. Antoine
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
If it wasn’t in a accident, most likely. Just align it down the middle. You’ll see where the arrows meet and that’s how you know it is aligned.

Any luck doing this? I have the same issue with my trunk with the right side hitting the bumper and the gap on the left

My bumper fender gap is not as close as it was before removal (where you use painters tape). I have unclipped and re-clipped it several times and the gap is still larger than before. Is there any adjustment? What could I have done differently, it’s like there is a slight sag. I did swap my original gravel guard for a new one with a trailer hitch door.
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
There is an arrow in the middle of the bumper where you are supposed to align first. Then, work your way back and forth until you get to the sides. This works a lot better with two people so you can both cover the same parts at the same time as you work your way around. Assuming you've done all that and it still isn't in correctly, you might want to open it up again and check for broken clips.

Is there a way to reach the connector for the trailer ecu without removing ? Teslas Tutorial shows that they are disconnected the cable before removing the Bumper. I want to check first if the connection and maybe trailer mode working without toolbox
@tesbros7 ай бұрын
@@alexinked yes on the newer rear diffusers there is a slot where you can remove at the bottom to access trailer area.

@@tesbros it’s a 2023 M3 SR but it doesn’t has the slot. I may try it by myself with both tutorials to check that out. Thanks 🙏
