1) what is the 'tension adjuster' you refer to on the handlebar...tension for what? 2) have others found the seat height hard to adjust? I will almost definitely need to adjust the seat height, as I am 5'2". Also, do other people in the range of 5'2" find that the handlebars are too high for them, in relation to the seat height? 3) is there a way to know in advance, if you use the Lyft app, how many bikes are currently available at the location where you want to pick up your bike? And on the tail end, is there a way to see how many Empty slots are currently available, at the location where you want to Drop Off your bike? 4) thanks for tip that you want to see green light when you dock your bike, to ensure that the system now shows your bike as 'returned' (not still charging you $). But what if I forget about that fact....can I check my Lyft app, and should I see something that shows my Citibike rental as Completed or Closed? Unless the docking station specifically says on it 'Wait for Green light to appear after you've docked your bike' (or something along those lines) I may have no idea ...I might forget...that I want to see the Green light come on. 5) Have those who regularly use these bikes found that they seem to be well-maintained.... gears are oiled, tires regularly filled, screws tightened, etc? 6) I saw another video that suggested these bikes are 'heavy'. Are they really quite a bit heavier than a standard bike, and if so, I wonder what makes them heavier? 7) Let's say I rent a Citibike and my destination doesn't really have a Citibike kiosk anywhere nearby. Is there anything to prevent me from stopping at my destination (say to meet a friend for lunch).... I lock up my Citibike with a chain that I brought with me...and then afterwards I ride my Citibike back to either the original kiosk where I rented it, or some other kiosk? Sure, I realize I'll be charged for the entire time I had the bike, but I'm thinking that there COULD be a time when depending on where I want to go, there are simply no Citibike kiosks nearby. Anyway, thanks for this helpful video, as I have been considering trying out Citibike, but had no clue where to start.

A few answers to your questions. The tension adjuster is kinda like a gear shifter. On the lowest setting, you'll be in low gear (easy to pedal, good for hills, low speed), and opposite for the highest setting. Regarding seeing how many bikes are available, I just use Google maps. If you search citi bikes, it just tells you how many are open nearby.

Just subscribed. Great content. Quick question(s): How fast the E-Bikes can go? When you purchase either the 179 or 199 annual fee does it includes the Ebikes? The 199 fee covers all states? Thanks!
@UrbanCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! I'm honestly not sure about annual memberships as I don't ride that often. And I only ride the manual bikes since I don't run into e-bikes that often.

Thinking of starting citi bike rides . Im scared of trains
@Lisa_Evers2 жыл бұрын
I'm more scared on the streets of NYC. It's utter chaos...like the Wild West on our streets, with massive oversized vehicles, mopeds, e-bikes, razor scooters, food delivery guys, cyclists riding the wrong way, cyclists on sidewalks, UNprotected bike lanes, cars double-parked/idling in bike lanes, over crosswalks, in bus lanes/bus stops, cars parked in lanes of traffic. Out. Of. Control.

Super surprised my little backwater town in Europe is ahead of NYC in one aspect - we’ve had e scooters for rent all over the city for years. Kinda suspected NYC to be far ahead on this, like hoverboards 😜
@UrbanCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
I'm jealous! The Bronx has scooters, but not the other boroughs. I thinks it's more of a safety and logistical issue.

Anyone else here to learn how citi bikes work after the NYC KAREN event? I need to know what happens if someone abandon a bike? From the video it looks like your time will keep going at the rate of .18c if you go over your time, that is until you load it back into the dock. If someone wants to hold on to a bike after the expired time, that's allowed. Just seeking clarification.
@sydtopia1 Жыл бұрын
I am here because the Karen event as well. Sorry can't answer your question. But it pretty clear that having the zero dollar receipt proves that she unlocked the bike and locked it again.
@TheMochaangel Жыл бұрын
@@sydtopia1 thank you…. others are raising concern of the redacted receipt of the Karen. As i see it, she saw the bike, rolled it up to then kiosk to check it in, then she may have rented it. Her attorney alluded to her seeing the bike, and then mounting it to the station …as soon as she pulled it in, it wouldve reset the order, which wouldve given her the ability to quickly rent it. Even if she found it, it is still under the custody of the person whom debit card was used to make the purchase.
@FKS19943 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify, I recently signed up for the annual membership. Every 45 minute ride is free. Does the app tell you when you are about to hit 45 minutes? Also, let's say the 45 minute ride is up. Can't I just dock the bike, select another bike, and continue riding for the next 45 minutes and repeat? Thanks for the video!
@UrbanCaffeine3 жыл бұрын
Not sure about the app telling you about your time. But yes, you can dock your bike and grab it again to reset the 45 mins.

Q: Does the app need to be online when returning a Citi Bike? I don't think so but my wife does. System should only need to know the bike is physically returned (green light) to end the rental. Can anyone confirm?
@UrbanCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
I think you can just put the bike into an open slot and it ends your ride once it locks the bike (which makes sense in case your phone dies). But it's good to still be online to make sure that your ride really did end.
